Summerhill Place Apartments

My wife and I were 2 year residents and were always treated with kindness and compassion from the property management and staff. All requests for maintenance were handled in a timely manner and always above and beyond what was initially requested. There was considerable effort to always make sure the property looked appealing and things were kept tidy.The neighbourhood has great amenities and is close to the hospital and out-patient offices.

Amazing service and beautiful, new and clean apartments. My parents have been here over 3 years in a very spacious 2 bedroom apartment at Summerhill Place Apartments. Due to certain circumstances my mother had to move to a 1 bedroom unit by herself and management placed her on a waiting list until a one bedroom came up. Resident managers Sharen & Mark are two of the most sincere and caring managers and have taken great care of my mom. They facilitated the move from the 4th floor to the 1st floor and also relocated her vehicle to be located outside of her suite. The staff are all so attentive and engaging and apart from Sharen and Mark special mention should be made of Sean. Thank you so much for taking great care of my parents, especially my mom during this transition. I would highly recommend Summerhill Place Apartments to anyone looking to rent. We had just sold our condo and had already decided we wanted to move to 1820 Summerhill Place, which had been our first choice when we moved here 6 years ago. We were thrilled to find out that a 2 bedroom would be available to match our timeframe.From the initial application, through signing the lease up to the actual day of the move, everything was handled with patience, efficiency and professionalism. (There were a few glitches on our end). The staff are just wonderful, willing to help with any issue and super friendly. They obviously care about the tenants as it seems they know most of them by name. The apartment itself is just lovely with all the modern conveniences plus the added bonus of a huge pantry. It's taken us 6 years to get here but it was definitely worth the wait.

From the minute we walked in the front door we felt at home. The Summerhill team welcomed us with open arms and were always available to receive any comments, questions, and/or concerns we may have had. The apartments are beautiful and spacious (we were on the third floor, mount benson side - beautiful), the grounds are always well maintained. While the apartments are a bit pricey, we always felt comfortable and safe, and with a (basic) gym on site and it being so close to everything one would need, we were happy to pay the price! We truly loved living at Summerhill!

I lived here for six years and can sincerely say this was the most well-maintained building I have lived in. There were constantly landscapers about, the hallways and elevators were always clean, and there was always someone to get readily get in touch with if you ever needed anyone. Sadly the park behind it got more and more torn up while I lived there, but it was once beautiful as well. The area is near pharmacies, coffee shops and a grocery store, as well as near the hospital. Public transportation is nearby. I really did love my time here and the landlord actually hugged me while I teared up as I was leaving. I would definitely recommend this place and the overwhelming majority of those working there.

This building is pet tolerant, not pet friendly as advertised. Pet friendly is a statement that should have something to back it up. Other rental apartments that claim to be pet friendly offer dog runs, dog baths, and dog friendly areas for them to exercise. While these apartments and townhouses were being completed, there was a plan shown to us that included a park area and dog friendly areas. This was over a year ago, and it still haven't been created, other than many grassy areas with “Keep Dogs Off Grass” signs. There is a dog waste bag and disposal bin area, in the middle of the parking lot where you have to try to avoid traffic entering and exiting the parking lot.Each unit received a note on the door recently, which included the following statements:“if you are wondering if your pup has been on the naughty list, please contact the office and we would be happy to discuss it with you”“we just want to correct the issue before it gets too out of hand and we have to stop allowing dogs in the buildings. That is sadly the direction we are headed at this time.”That each dog owner was encouraged to buy a Sonic Egg bark deterrence device for in the apartment, costing approximately $50 for the device that isn't guaranteed to work long-term.The building manager is unprofessional. When confronted about the tone in communications, mentioning the tone of the notes make it sound as though they are speaking to children, the manger responded “That's because some of the tenants act like children.”We pay over $1300/month for a one bedroom and it feels more like a hotel than an apartment.There is frequent foot traffic on the path next to our building, as it is public access. Recently there was a man walking down the path screaming all sorts, smashing railings and the concrete path with his skateboard, knocking over the cigarette disposal unit. Dogs bark in response to that. No ongoing, unrelenting barking. Just in response to noise outside. I would rather have dogs bark and warn of danger occasionally, than force the dogs to be quiet and go against their instincts to protect.We have received poor customer service, since Real Star took over the rental management office. I have worked in a wide array of customer service environments, and if I ever spoke to a customer the way the manager spoke to me, I would be reprimanded or fired. Given her role and responsibilities, I would expect more professionalism and respect to others. When trying to talk to her about one issue – the inappropriate tone and message of the most recent note – the manager cuts me off and brings up other unrelated topics to distract and avoid.The other staff that do maintenance and cleaning around the buildings are friendly, approachable, and professional. However, the stress that the manager causes due to her unprofessional and reactive nature is not worth the cost I pay in rent.I would not recommend the Summerhill apartments; the cost of living here, and the lack of professionalism and respectful communication, don't make the cost of rent worth the stress.

I lived in the building before and recommended this place to my dad. The management is by far the best, nicest, most accommodating that I have ever experienced. We will surely miss them. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating with needs for my dad given he has a disability. They helped us remove doors (for his wheelchair) and add grab bars for his needs. I would highly recommend this beautiful building to anyone. Everyone goes above and beyond with anything anyone needs. The maintenance do a wonderful job of maintaining the property. This is the best rental experience by far. They even gave everyone a Xmas goodie bags. Anyone would be happy living here. It’s truly like one big family. Much appreciated to these amazing people.

I resided at the Summerhill Place apartments for over 4 years. I would have continued if I didn’t have to move to another province. The property management team is very easy to deal with and very accommodating. The apartment was big and beautiful. very well laid out. Honestly the only thing they need to be better is to have a pet run/park on the property.

We lived here for two months when we relocated from Vancouver. Overall it was a great place. We had a two bedroom suite in the 1825 Building, south facing. the suite was very nice with high ceilings, two balconies and two bathrooms. Even being on the Bowen Rd side, we didn't find it too noisy.The on-site staff were great and always pleasant to deal with. We never had any major concerns but any little things, they were able to take care of right away. We would definitely recommend this complex/company to others.
