Holiday Inn Express & Suites Guelph, an IHG Hotel

WARNING! This is NOT a Holiday Inn! I called the Holiday Inn (on Silvercreek) and booked a room for one night. I get to the hotel and was greeted at the front door by a person indicating that this was no longer a Holiday Inn but a HOMELESS SHELTER. (and had been for TWO YEARS) I was directed to go to the Hampton Inn and they would honor my reservation. Sure enough, the Hampton had my reservation but did not honor the Holiday Inn price. Why was I not told that the Holiday Inn no longer existed when I booked the room. (Apparently all of the Holiday In calls are forwarded to the Hampton Inn). The only reason they have 1 star is because I cannot rate a 0. Yes, it was a nice room… but for 230$ plus tax for one night in the industrial section of Guelph? Not impressed!

Room was not cleaned, the tub had hair in it and the bathroom sink was dirty the mirrors through out the room looked like maybe sprayed but not wiped at all. The mini fridge had nasty stuff and noodles were on the floor beside the fridge. There was 3 pieces of popcorn in the bathroom, the door had look like blood on it. Was not impressed at all.Will not be going back.. says they have a high cleanliness service which is not true.Also booked a king room with jacuzzi and paided online before hand, when we checked in we did not get that room and got told the 2 rooms were booked already. Then why online would it show the room with the spa bath and say that on it...

This is not a Holiday inn. It is a homeless shelter run by a fraudulent person. You book through the IHG app, arrive, and they direct you to the Hampton inn. I don't stay at the Hampton. I never intended to. We arrived at 2:00 in the morning and had to find another hotel. This is fraud, plain and simple.

Nice, clean, quiet place to stay! Front desk staff was very friendly and professional. Pool was a little small but it was nice that they had a pool and hot tub. Would stay again!

We drove 3 hours planning to book 2 rooms at this hotel.When we arrived at the hotel what we seen was beyond shocking. There where multiple pedestrians sitting out front that seem to be homeless and possibly in drugs. Clearly we did not enter the hotel. As we pulled away there where more at the side of the building. Later that day trying to find a safer place to stay we pulled over and spoke with a police officer asking if they new of a place. At that time they informed us that the place was not even open.Needless to say. DO NOT stay at this hotel. I also recommend not staying at any hotel in that area. As it seems to be a very unsafe.

Got here to see what looked to be the town’s homeless people loitering about. There were used needles in the driveway near where we parked. Our room was clean but the whole hotel smelled of old urine and feces mixed with vomit and body odour.We left after one night of being awake listening to crazies on meth or heroin, whatever they were on, all night long in the halls. We were paranoid and afraid for our safety by morning.The desk clerk informed us the city is paying good money for all the homeless to stay there and this is now an Ontario Housing Apartment(but you didn’t hear it from her). They’ve even cancelled reservations to make room for crack heads and bums to stay, instead of paying customers.

Staying here with House of Friendship. Management is great, but my only complaint is that they charge $3 for pop instead of $2 like they obviously should. Also the food comes from hof which is terrible, I would love to have more options or access to the kitchen. I also don't have access to the pool which sucks in such a humid summer. Otherwise this place is a win!

Stayed over a night for my work party in town. Hotel was decent, for two stars it was clean, service was friendly, and pool was good. It's small so we didn't see too many people.Room was large enough and clean. Typical of Holiday Inn's. That night it rained pretty hard, and the ceiling leaked in the hallway, on the second of three floors. I let the front desk know and they were very polite, but skeptical...not surprising considering it was 2am.Overall I was pleased, but there is more competitive hotels/AirBnB's in the area for the same price.

Id give it a 0 star if i could! Booked a room and got sent to another location after being dropped off. Not even a hotel in the IHG group. No points for my stay. What a scam.

I was only there for a few hours visiting family, but it seemed nice. Small rooms and a small pool but clean and modern. Kind of an out-of-the-way location.
