Compass Early Learning & Care - Bowmanville Program

BEWARE: My son attended this daycare for approximately 2 years and recently we felt compelled to leave because management refused to remove a staff member that was accused by other staff of being physical with our son.This was a lovely daycare with amazing employees for most of the time we attended. However, in the past few months the entire place has taken a drastic downward turn. Some of the best care givers/educators have left or been fired because they alerted parents to what has been going on. These individuals came forward due to their concern for the safety and well-being of the children attending Compass, and unfortunately they have been punished for doing what management refused to do – keep parents informed of investigations of inappropriate behavior by a staff member.Children's aid, the licensing bureau and the police were involved in this investigation and management only disclosed limited information regarding what occurred AFTER parents found out. Their response was a brief e-mail indicating they would ‘improve their communication’ to parents in the future. However, the staff member involved remains at Compass, and the brave individuals that tried to help these children have been forced to leave.No one holds the management of Compass Early Learning accountable, and it appears they are protecting staff members in their inner circle who they have relationships with at the expense of the wellbeing of the children in their care.There were also other incidents involving non-verbal children that were reported to management for over a year with nothing being done and nothing being disclosed to parents. This place should be shut down or replaced with a more regulated care facility.I have since moved my child to another daycare. I am leaving this as a warning to any parent considering entrusting the safety of their child to Compass Early Leaning in the hopes that you will be able to make an informed decision regarding your child, something the management of Compass did not allow my family to do.

My son loved his time at Compass. The staff was fantastic providing a variety of activities to develop my sons creativity, social skills fine, inquiry skills and his fine & gross motor skills. The staff provided pictures of my son participating in daily activities. They also gave me regular updates each time I picked up my son & were very flexible with drop off & pick up times.

We were with Compass for 3 years in their infant, toddler and preschool rooms. What an exceptional group of care providers! The staff were warm and friendly and treated our daughter like their own. The communication was excellent, particularly through the pandemic. They provide daily updates and photos of your child. The snacks are healthy with a good variety. There was lots of outdoor time which my daughter loved. We could not have asked for a better experience. We will miss this group very much!
