Durham College Whitby Campus

I’m a graduate from the Food and Farming (F&F) program of 2016. The program was good. The campus building and rooms is clean and tidy overall. Sadly there is no sidewalks for you to walk to the nearest shops and stores from this location, and a smoking issue near the bus area - despite there being a no-smoking zone. I enjoyed my final year here, and since it was a small class (<10 students) everyone and well as the professors were close, and considered a friend. The Class trips we had was also good. I love the new Greenhouse they have now, and the Bistro kitchens building. Getting an appointment, student ID cards, computer in the Commons, and joining clubs were easier since there are way less students down here compared to the Oshawa campus. I can’t speak for students from other programs and/or who are enrolled now, but my time there from 2014 to 2016 was a great time. I have learned so much, have many good memories and experience from the F&F program at that Campus.

I have attended level one and level three of my 309a electrical apprenticeship here, and level 2 at Fleming. Flemings campus, labs, and most importantly faculty make Durham seem like a complete waste of time and a sad excuse of a school. I wouldn't waste your time here I'd rather travel to another school, theres only a couple knowledgable professors. The others can't answer simple questions when you ask them how or why, they just tell you it's right with no reasoning. They teach code incorrectly I have ran there assignment by multiple supervisors at my company who have agreed with my answers over the professor's. No faculty returns your email inquirys for help or asking questions because there are errors on the assignments they provide you or lack of information to answer the question correctly. Even upon messaging your assigned student advisor to complain you will not get a return phone call or email!! Have requested to speak to the Dean even with no follow up. Overall just a terrible experience atleast for electrical 309a.

Magically I owe 88 dollar in tuition from the school, withholding my diploma and threatening me with sending it to collections. Though when the pandemic stuck I missed a whole semester of a hands on program saving the college money for the equipment, upkeep of that equipment, materials, and electricity of us not being in school welding. No refunds given to me but will chase me down for 88 dollars that was never brought to my attention while I was enrolled. Joke of a school with terrible administration. Go to Fleming for trades don’t waste your time here

overpriced, undersupplied parking. Terrible website design and poor IT support system.Parking is 18$ per day or 5$ an hour if you don't get one of the now limited passes, which were not sold after the winter semester started.

This college takes your money without a problem and always on time no matter the circumstance !The majority of teachers are great but the college does not care about you. The school charges you full price for all the extra things like student life and the gym but majority of classes are online so you rarely go on campusI think the main problem is during a pandemic the school Shouldn’t be taking advantage of everyone

Anyone getting into HVAC.Iv spent a year in the trade and realized after coming back for my G2 that you could learn more from a YouTube tutorial than what they have you doing in class. Find somewhere that doesn’t waste your time and money.Parking is 500 for a pass or 18 just so you can spend 20 minutes looking for a spot.

Most teachers were amazing, but the school doesn't care about the success of their students they just want your money. Once they have it they could care less about you or legitimate problems you bring up about professionalism of staff and etc. Waste of time especially if your looking to get into the trades. Your're better off joining a union when they do their intakes each year. Cause your diploma means absolutely nothing to employers and Ontario colleges. You still have to go back and retake the course you've already taken.. it's all one big money grab. 1 star is just for the amazing teachers I did have. So if you're looking to take a trades course shop around at other schools.

Instructors in my program were knowledgeable and patient. School is clean and well maintained. Your tims staff is very nice and courteous. I would remove that piano you have in the middle of the school as its a pissoff when you're doing exams and people are playing pool and screaming over the piano while exams are going on. Just a thought. Your parking lady in the office needs an attitude check.

Takes forever to process paperwork with these people. And when it's ready, you barely get notified. They don't work during the weekends.
