Benoit Electric

Benoit is an excellent business on all counts except for time of delivery. They are honest, efficient, helpful, provide a good product, and are conscientious. However, they are understaffed bc of no workers available in this day & age. Not their fault but they can’t provide the services needed on an acceptable timeframe.

Lee was exceptionally courteous and kind when he came to our home and he sorted out each of the problems we called in about in short time. The only issue I had was the fact that they were about an hour and half over on the timeframe they initially gave us on when they would arrive. A courtesy call would have been appreciated, but I will definitely use Benoit Electric again should my house require more electrical work.

I had always heard that Benoit was the best company to use for electrical work and now I know why. A great customer experience from beginning to end. Had Lee and Clayton out here three times. Every time they were on time, eager to get the jobs done, extremely knowledgeable and confident in what they were doing, found solutions to how to get the trickier stuff done and very easy to work with. You can also get air miles using this company. I found the cost of doing business very reasonable and feel like I got good value for what I paid. I will definitely continue to use Benoit Electric going forward and wish I could have as great an experience with every business I deal with in NS. If I could give more than five stars I would

Hi!Thankfully, hurricane Fiona is gone and power is back. Yay.Now that this is behind us, something to think about! We will have severe storms in the future. Power will go out again. So why not plan for this? Get a large generator, and have a proper wired connection to your home.This is safer for you, and for lineman. Properly wired generators can stop back feeding power into the mains and hurting lineman who are working in to bring power back.We have a Generac 7500. That’s 7500 watts. It has a 220v connection and plugs into an electrician installed plug on the outside of your home. That will power all the lights and outlets in your home, fridges, freezer, microwave, TVs, internet, game consoles, fans, air exchanger, coffee maker, kettles, slow cooker ….. No electric heat. But it will also provide power for propane appliances. We have a propane stove for the cold season.We used Benoit Electric, they are a local company, and Generac certified. They work on other makes as well. They installed two whole house surge suppressors to clean / smooth out generator power and regular power too! Very professional, did a great job. Very reasonable cost.It’s a great thing to do. Way more comfortable to watch TV, surf the net, while you enjoy a hot meal and a tea during a storm and it’s aftermath. Oh, and get a dual fuel generator. Can’t get gasoline, attach your BBQ tank to it. Propane is cleaner fuel too!

Excellent communication from the time we set up the quote to booking the service. As first time homeowners of a heritage property we were a little nervous getting our electrical upgraded, but Benoit Electric were so amazing. Easy to work with, very reasonably priced, and lovely humans. We had our panel upgraded to breakers, 3 ceiling fans and 1 light fixture put together and installed, a new plug created, dimmer switch added, and 5 digital thermostats installed.10/10 would recommend and use again!

Hired Benoit to install outdoor light fixtures. After receiving an outrageous bill I never used them again. Then recently a contractor removed 2 of these lights to repair a wall and discovered they were not installed properly or even to code! No electrical box and not grounded. I had another electrician I've used since them to come and properly install these lights.I emailed Benoit to inform them of their error but never received a reply! Called to follow up and still no reply. So I opened a BBB file against them and they still refused to refund me for work I was charged for but was not even completed.Very unprofessional! Take no accountability for illegal work they completed. I will be contacting local inspectors next to inform them of these issues.

First it took multiple try’s to get them to call me back. Finally booked them in for a quote, the electrician was super negative and never completed a quote or wrote us back on emails.Then the booked us in for asbestos testing, never showed up and then sent a email after the booking saying - by the way we can’t staff or complete your job it’s to big for us. We are only asking for pot lights, electrical panel update and they recommend asbestos testing.Super disappointed with there work ethic and professionalism

While I believe the work that is completed is done well the customer service is dismal. A job that Benoit said would take 5 business days, maximum 7 is now on day 10 and not complete. They have not showed up to work on a Monday yet. I am writing this review on the third Monday they have not showed. The lead electrician gets pulled from my project to do work at other locations. All my other projects for the house are backed up because Benoit can’t get it together to complete the necessary work. It’s very frustrating. I expected way better from a company that is so highly regarded.UPDATE: I have recently used Benoit again as it is very hard to find tradespeople in the HRM right now. I had a completely different experience. The work I asked to have done was completed in one day. The electricians sent were friendly and knowledgable and they stayed until the work was done. Very happy with this service.

We did not have a good experience. We had scheduled an asbestos inspection and went to the house the morning of the appointment but no one showed up. We checked out email and a half hour after our scheduled time they said that they couldn’t do the work. We were not called or given any heads up.
