It's okay-ish. Lots of equipment usually has several machines available. Considerate and mindful patrons compared to Fitness World. Good location. The men's bathroom is woefully inadequate and needs to be gutted and completely redone. Many machines lack legible instructions. Sad vibe of a better past. Odd shrine to Ryan Reynolds and the owner from the early 2000s. Weird.Needs new blood and a thorough renovation.

I’ve been coming here for a few years - great gym! No idea why there’s so many negative reviews as I’ve been to a few other gyms in Vancouver that were much busier and messier. There are two large Olympic squat racks and a huge variety of free weights, other equipment, and a stretching area. No complaints at all from me, one of the best spots in the city!

Worst gym ever. They just charge you for no reason month to month and when you want to cancel your membership again they charge you 60 dollars something for annual servicing which you are cancelling and not using :))

I went this morning to Ron Zalko Fitness and Yoga to ask for the pricing. When I arrived “Steve” asked me if I want to join right away or I would like the gym first.-Well I don’t know any prices, and I would like to know how much is before sign in, right? -He showed me the list of prices and was crazy insane.I been reading the reviews about how they make money from people, but this was WOW.Because I didn’t want to join for a full year, the “promos” that they have where almost 70$ per month (doing the math) .No one mentioned about the online promo which is WAY LESS.After that I asked him for the free trial that they are promoting outside the gym… and he told me to fill the form online. My surprise was when MARIA called me 3 hours later and was offering me this free trial all in afternoon shift. After explaining 3 times that I was unable to come any afternoon due my work someone pick up the phone abruptly and start explaining me about the gym fee.I asked him for his name, because honestly I didn’t know who was on the other line , and his reply was “You don’t need to know this. I’m the CO and I’m here to do business. You want to join or not?”I wonder which kind of business man is this person. When I asked again that I would like to know who I was speaking with in case that I am popping by the gym … in a really rude way he replied “that’s not your matter and you don’t need to ask” and then he hung up.My perspective is this people are not professional and want to make money from the patrons.Honestly I am not going to join this gym, sad that this people are treating NEW CLIENTS as this .Photo attached to see the prices.Quick note- comparing with another friend they didn’t paid this huge fee (264$) to join.Edit- called again to verify the prices and they still giving me the same prices .So why are you posting here just saying that you had dif ? I did not have a good experience at this gym but upon hearing of an incident that happened today I feel compelled to warn people away from this place. The lady at the front desk targeted the only POC female in the gym who drove through the snow to get to the gym to KICK HER OUT very rudely for not bringing an alternate pair of shoes when hers were perfectly dry (she drove and went through the parking facility). As a woman, I will not stand with a gym that treats people this way and I encourage others not to join this gym. Throughout covid they continued to take money from people when they were closed and refused to answer about cancellations and are so rude to loyal paying customers. I do not go here anymore because of their attitude and I encourage others to find a more welcoming and inclusive gym.

Judge the reviews by the responses from the owner. In each instance the owner is either hostile, dismissive, or claims the review is false or inaccurate. No accountability. The place does have a weird vibe. People go here if they live close. The classes are terrible and poorly attended. Non motivating music and advertisements for the gym play loudly enough on the oversized speakers that you can hear them even while wearing headphones. I’m talking ABBA, and Shade, smooth operator as top choices. You can read about the outdated facility, all glass shower stall, bolted down benches and the carpeted stretching area…in other reviews. The real issues come when you have a problem.I was on a month-to-month contract. I tried to cancel at the end of the month by phone and was told I needed to come in person. I came the next day. Because it was the 1st they said I needed to pay for two extra months. Then the owner came in and postured aggressively. Not threatening based on his stature, but wildly unprofessional. He stated because I didn't give them a year’s notice, I needed to pay a maintenance fee of another $85. Annoyed by the money grab but wanting to go about my day, I offered to pay one month notice and pro-rate the maintenance fee. Ron got verbally aggressive. I left. Within seconds charges appeared on my credit card I did not approve.I went regularly for 3 years. I continued to pay during covid as I wanted to support the business in my community, Then I moved. Instead of appreciating my business and having a positive ending they acted unprofessional and aggressive. This is a story I have heard before. I was lazy and picked the closest gym. It was a mistake. There are better places. Find them.

As a dedicated member of this great gym who wants to clear the online reputation Rons Zalkos seems to have, I can confidently say that it has surpassed all my expectations. First and foremost, the range of bodybuilding machines here is simply mind-blowing. The amazing equipment delivers exceptional results. Every machine seems to have been carefully selected and designed to target specific muscle groups, allowing me to customise my workouts with precision and efficiency. All in all the presence of classic metal weights takes me back to the golden era of weightlifting. It's a refreshing departure from the cookie-cutter gyms that solely rely on high-tech machines that don't deliver the same results. As well as this, One of the aspects I appreciate most is the variety of machines available. Whether I want to focus on strength training, cardiovascular exercises, or functional workouts, this gym seems to have it all. The diverse range of equipment ensures that I never get bored and can continually challenge myself to new heights. In terms of location, this gym couldn't be more convenient. Nestled in the heart of Kitsilano, it's easily accessible from every corner of the city. This means that for most of us we can seamlessly incorporate our fitness routines into our daily lives without wasting too much time commuting. The prime location honestly does add an extra layer of convenience and motivation. When it comes to the cons of the gym, I do have to say that the gym tends to have less of a crowd. It's a double-edged sword, really. On the one hand, you won't have to deal with overcrowding or wait times for equipment. When it comes to equipment, while the majority is top-notch, there are a few older pieces that might not offer the same level of comfort or features. However, don't let that deter you! The core equipment is well-maintained and gets the job done.Although at times the staff can be a little over enthusiastic about pushing you towards getting a membership, To me at least they seem to always welcome me and make this gym feel like my home.To sum it up, this gym is a hidden gem that I'm thrilled to be a part of. The outstanding selection of bodybuilding machines, the fusion of modern and traditional equipment, the variety of workouts available, the unbeatable location, and the affordability make it a fitness haven like no other. Although this gym may not be for everyone I seriously suggest you give it a shot and see it for yourself.

Great place! Quiet gym and love the free parking! The gym features old equipment which is just built way better than new equipment. Would highly recommend!

In a fitness world sanitized of character and mojo, Ron's gym is the last bastion of hope. Not only is this gym is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment, but other members are more than willing to spot you on it if you need a hand. Great equipment and great people (and great A/C!). That's the kind of atmosphere that works for me. Not only that, but they keep the place so clean, you could eat off the machines. And yes, not everything is brand new and covered in plastic. However, there's something about picking up a solid metal plate that thousands of others have done before you. It's like picking up McCartney's Stratocaster. There's something about it. Real and raw. Highly recommend.
