Orford Castle

Orford Castle is a great place to visit with a family. It is a well-preserved castle that is full of history and interesting things to see. The castle is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea, and there are plenty of places to explore both inside and outside the castle walls.One of the best things about Orford Castle is that it is not usually crowded. This means that you can take your time exploring the castle and not feel rushed. There are also plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained, such as the castle's audio tour and the children's activity trail.If you are looking for a family-friendly day out, I highly recommend visiting Orford Castle. It is a great place to learn about history and enjoy the outdoors.

Fabulously restored castle building with loads of useful history which includes a collection of artifacts from the Orford museum. Quite expensive entrance fee for a relatively small site - but still recommended...

Great castle , very interesting, lots of chambers to explore , great spiral staircase . Visited with grandchildren aged 5 and 3 they loved it , especially going up on the roof !

Small but very interesting castle, lots of things to see, plus walk down the harbour , nice place for walk and dogs welcome.

A visually striking castle located in a prominent position.We visited at dusk on a late February evening and were lucky enough to see the castle lit-up by the setting sun.We weren't able to go into the castle because it was too late, but a brief walk around brought home its size.There is limited car-parking although the nearby main village car park is only a 10 minute or so walk away.It is also worthwhile walking to the castle across the fields from the sea wall. This gives a different perspective but it isn't a suitable route for those with mobility issues.I definitely recommend that you visit this site if you are visiting Orford.

Orford Castle was a fun experience. We spent a couple hours exploring and listening to the audio tour. My 7 yr old loved wandering the various rooms and listened to the family tour audio guide.

Enjoyable place to visit. Very helpful staff. Small car park. Since the last time we visited a massive box is at the edge of the car park, where 2 old cannons are, has been erected ( bit of an eye sore )with info on it about the castle. Small gift shop, no tea or coffee facilities, no loos.

Surprisingly intact castle. Great views from the roof and a lovely grassed area around the moat for a picnic. The audio/visual tour is well done and very informative. The town of Orford is lovely with eating outlets and toilets a short walk away

Great castle. It had a great audio guide with fun activities. The view was outstanding. The models and signs were also interesting. One of the best castles I've ever been to.
