I called into Victoria Coal and Heating to get some quotes. I spoke to a lady named Mia, extremely knowledgeable with excellent customer service. She was very professional and very thorough. She answered all my questions and felt very comfortable as she explained to me with a lot of patience. I would highly recommend this company to anyone, thank you so much.

My parents have been long time customers of Victoria Coal and heating and I am grateful for the honest and efficient service they have received. It’s comforting to know there are still honest people out there giving good customer service and respect for the elderly.

I’ve only hired Victoria Coal & Heating once so far, and was very happy with the service. I was able to book service for the day after I called. The service man did arrive a hour later than scheduled, but was friendly, communicative, efficient, tidy, and had good covid safety practices. He was able to diagnose, repair, test and service my gas furnace within around an hour -- all with a very reasonable bill. I intend to work with them again with any future needs.

Unspeakably bad. Where to begin. I only used this company because my landlord was using them before. Overpaid on my last fill and no refund. They don't show up on time to appointments, or don't show up at all. They were supposed to do a service call back in november and never showed up. The woman on the phone was incredibly obnoxious and difficult to deal with, stand-offish and rude. Asking just basic questions and her whole attitude was abrasive and obnoxious. Will never deal with them again, even if that means wasting the $80 overpayment from last time. Find a different company.

Highly recommend. When other companies were weeks out in their booking, Victoria Coal and Heating were very accommodating and made room to see us day of. Service was all around amazing! Great customer service, they were on time, friendly and efficient.

I have provided a rating of 3 stars for the company due to their many years of satisfactory service averaged out with a totally unacceptable incident that just occurred.Victoria Coal and Heating installed our furnace in 2008 and have provided the annual service each year since then. For a number of years we purchased our heating oil from a national company but switched to Vic Coal in 2015 (despite their higher price) in order to reward a local company for good service. In the past 5 years we have paid them almost $12,000 for our furnace oil and about $750 for annual maintenance. All invoices were paid on-time. I thought we would be regarded as valued customers.Our most recent annual service has resulted in a decision to look elsewhere for our heating requirements. The invoice (up about 20% from last year) left by the technician was added up incorrectly. I called the office and they indicated that the error would be corrected in the final invoice they mailed out. It was not.The more serious issue was the fact that the technician told us that he did not install a new filter since he didn’t have one with him and there was none available near the furnace. He indicated what size was required and we wrote it down.Here are the problems:1. the correct sized filters were sitting in plain sight about 6 feet from the furnace2. he told us the wrong filter size. I spent a good deal of time online locating a filter of the specified size (it wasn’t a standard dimension). Before I went to the store to pick up the filter once it arrived, I double-checked around the furnace, verified that the size I was told was incorrect and found the existing filtersI was annoyed by the fact that I had to spend about 2 hours locating and ordering the incorrect filters then going to the store to pick up and immediately return my online order. This contrasted with the 15 minutes the technician spent on-site and charged for a full hour ($125.00)I sent a note with my payment describing the issue, correcting the addition error and reducing the labour charge to the time actually spent by the technician carrying out the service. This reduced the payment by about $90 including tax. I also asked them to contact me to discuss the issues.Today I received a call from the office manager indicating that she had spoken with the technician who denied telling anyone the filter size and said that the filters weren’t there to install.Essentially, he lied !The caller also indicated she had spoken with the owner and that they were not willing to have customers pay for anything less than the 1 hour minimum charges. She told me to look elsewhere for my furnace oil deliveries in the future.So much for being a valued customer !

I was rescued, respected, valued and cared for with kindness and patience by staff at Victoria Coal & Heating Ltd after a harrowing, traumatic experience with a less than honourable heating company here in Victoria, namely Advantage Heating & Cooling Ltd.It happened like this: a furnace technician from Advantage Heating & Cooling Ltd came to my home, dropped a tool inside the furnace, cut a hole in the side of the furnace in order to retrieve it, told me I had a carbon dioxide leak and a cracked heat exchanger at a cost of $2000 + tax and labour. Or, possibly I would need an entirely new furnace at a cost of $6000 plus tax and labour. This was repeated to me by his boss in a phone call by me to him that same day within the hour while I watched this young man walking away after damaging my furnace.I called Victoria Coal & Heating for a 2nd opinion. They came to assess what had happened. NO carbon dioxide leak, NO crack in the heat exchanger.These are hard times with Covid threats and concerns in a reduced economy. But, you have to be pretty desperate and unscrupulous to intimidate a senior citizen to bilk thousands of dollars out of them for needless service, and, to coerce employees to go along with that plan. Advantage Heating & Cooling Ltd abuses customer confidence. And, by their attitude and behaviour they put my health and well-being in jeopardy.Victoria Coal & Heating Ltd is family owned and has operated since 1992. That's 99 years and four generations of quality service with integrity and care for their customers. I recommend them with confidence and assurance of quality, safe, efficient service for all your heating needs in the Victoria area.

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Victoria Coal and Heating for about 20 years. Since 2000 they have serviced the oil furnace in my home. They have always done excellent work. I recently decided to switch to natural gas and had them and a couple other companies provide bids for installing natural gas furnaces, heat-on-demand hot water tanks at two houses as well as run lines for a natural gas fireplace, cooking stove, and BBQ. Victoria Coal and Heating’s bid was by far the most competitive and I was very comfortable giving them the work since my previous experiences with them were always positive. I’m very pleased that I had them do the work. As usual, they were outstanding: professional, technicians and office ladies very pleasant to deal with, punctual, returned all phone calls, kept work areas clean, completed the work on schedule and did an excellent job performing the contracted work. They even did a few extras including running a heating duct into a room and soundproofing an area at no charge! Victoria Coal and Heating is definitely one of Victoria’s finest companies!

I have recently purchased a house with an oil furnace and needed a fill up and restart. The service was incredibly fast and I was very impressed. As the owner of Absolutely Electrical, I know how hard it is to provide this kind of 5 star service. When my furnace wouldn't restart, they had a technician there within 30 minutes to save the day. I'm glad I chose this family run business, and will gladly send all my customers to them in the future!

Their Inside Office Staff were friendly & efficient & their Driver was professional, timely and extremely helpful. Everyone knew their job & excelled in doing it with an extremely high level of professionalism & customer service that is so rare to find these days.COLD WET WEATHER & AN EMPTY TANK.Our tank was on empty, we had no heat, & a cold wet weather pattern was on the horizon. It was a Friday & we needed oil TODAY! Due to an issue on my end with the filler pipe, the Driver & I determined it was going to be impossible to pump furnace oil using the trucks hose. Until I could have my problem fixed I was out of luck.2 GERRY CANS TO THE RESCUE! THANK U!Instead of leaving me to fix my issue & be without heat for the weekend the Driver offered up a perfect solution. He could arrange with the Office for a Van to drive out with 2 Gerry Cans to give me enough oil to heat my house throughout the weekend - OUTSTANDING!As with all the other Staff the fellow with the van & Gerry Cans was professional, efficient, & friendly. In very little time I had 40 gallons of heating oil to get me through the weekend and keep my house nice and toasty warm.I solved my filler neck problem over the weekend. First thing Monday morning I got a call from the Office Staff, after telling her that my problem was fixed she arranged for my tank to be filled. By mid-morning I had 800 litres of heating oil which should keep me toasty & warm until the Spring.I will never use anyone else but Victoria Coal & Heating. It’s no wonder that they have been around since the coal heating days. Their Professionalism, Superior Product Knowledge, & Spectacular Customer Service distinguishes them from all others.SPECTACULAR JOB - I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO YOU ALL!!!!
