Oshawa Waterfront Trail - Camp X and Lake West ParkPoint of Interest was Camp X Memorial which was a spy training camp. There was a CBC series two years ago Company X which was based on this spy camp.The endpoint of the hike was Lake West Park.

Very appropriate for a Canadian spy training site. There is nothing but a memorial to confirm it ever existed. A bit of a disappointment for some of our co-travellers and it fell on the rest of us to explain the history of Camp X.

The original site of Camp X which was a WWII training facility for Spies from 1941-1946 lead by a man known as “Intrepid” (Sir William Stephenson). It was interesting to learn about the history of the site. The downside is there is no parking in the area.

This is a beautiful city park that runs along the lakeshore and is the former site of Camp X. There isn't much out there for kids and the only options for parking are on the side of the road, which can be hazardous due to it being in an industrial park. Remember to be careful during the colder season as, being along the lakeshore, it is invariably windy and the wind chill can be quite bad.

My late father was a Capt. In the signal corps, I used to take him to Camp X for lunch. Some of my favorite memories of my dad was taking him there and having our Arby's lunch while we imagined what went on there during the war. I attend every Remembrance day ceremony there, it's always a good day when I have these memories!!
