It has a spectacular view of downtown, This terminal is not as crowded as Center Island terminal and that's a good point.

Lovely sunset on this small beach. Best to take your return ferry from the Hanlan point to avoid over crowded ferry’s.

We walked from centre island to Bed Hanlan's ferry terminal.Great to see the statue and read about the great man.A few yards to the right and you can see the sign where the former baseball field stood and Babe Ruth hit his first professional Home Run.A great piece of history.

Here's what is says on the plaque honouring Ned Hanlan: One of Canada's greatest oarsmen, Edward Hanlan was born in Toronto. As a child he took up rowing when his family settled in this vicinity, now named Hanlan's Point. Although standing only 175 cm and rarely heavier than 68 kg, he became a leading international sculler. In 1873 Hanlan won the amateur rowing championship of Toronto Bay. Becoming a professional in 1876, he defeated all opponents in the Philadelphia Races of that year. He overcame all leading North American competitors and in 1880 won the world single sculls championship in England. Hanlan retained his title until 1884. A popular Toronto figure, he was elected Alderman for this area in 1898 and 1899.

Less crowed island touch point. I always take this instead of crowned centre island. City view is very different from Hanlon. Most beautiful beaches are also at Hanlon point.

Welcoming you to the Toronto Islands is the bronze sculpture of sculler Ned Hanlan by acclaimed Toro to sculptor Emanuel Hahn. He is the first Canadian athlete of international fame and some say that he was Canada's best immigration promotional tool. The story of Edward Hanlan, oarsman, hotelier and Toronto alderman, can be found on Wikipedia and the Canadian Encyclopedia, as well as other sources.Sporting a yellow bathing suit, an amusing knitted piece reminiscent of Borat's memorable ensemble (knitter unknown) during our June 2022 visit, the sculpture is a worthy landmark.Unveiled at the Canadian National Exhibition, to honour a man beloved by all of Toronto and the world, in 1926, it was appropriately relocated to Hanlan's point in 2004, as it is near Hanlan Beach. His parents, who were Irish immigrants, once owned a Hotel here and he followed in their footsteps as hotelier after a lifetime of sculling competitions. As a young man he attended George Stuart Public School and rowed to Toronto every day from his island home. He may have taken fish to sell on the market from time to time.In a career of over 300 races, he lost fewer than a dozen. His first championship medal was during the American centennial exhibition (1876) in Philadelphia. He competed across the world with flair, humour and skill. His story and races are the stuff of sports movies... such as 1986's The Boy in Blue" with Nicolas Cage... I kid you not.Upon his death of pneumonia in 1908 (born in 1855)

This is a smaller ferry dock than the main one at Center Island, so it is not so busy. The ferry does take vehicles but when we returned to Toronto there were no vehicles so people just walked on and stood where the cars normally would be. Even this ferry was crowded and very few people were wearing masks. The ferry ride is not long, and you get the added benefit of watching planes taking off and landing right over your head.
