Nickel 9 Distillery

We visited the Distillery today. Chris and Greg welcomed us, opened our eyes to the workings of a distillery and the intricacies of preparing bitters. We enjoyed the Rise and Shine Cocktail and a very tasty gin & tonic.

Nickel 9’s cocktail class was the second cocktail class I’ve attended in Toronto. My first was Reid’s Distillery and I will refer to it for comparison.Overall, N9 is a much more casual laid back experience. The founder/owner wore slide sandals, joggers and a T-shirt. Whereas the RD Mixologist wore a dark dress shirt and pants. Both classes included three cocktails and the opportunity to stir and shake. What stuck out about N9 is the relaxed structure of the class. There was more down time between each cocktail to sip and snack. A welcome surprise was the charcuterie board after the first cocktail and a fruit platter after the second cocktail. Both boards were fantastic, beautifully laid out and made with quality ingredients and unique spreads like local cinnamon honey. Shot glasses were provided to sample each of the spirits used in the cocktails. You can try any of their bitters. The instruction and execution of the class was well done. The ambience melded well with the distillery aesthetic and personality of the owner. Depicted is an espresso martini featuring N9s Maple Butter. It is delicious and I highly recommend it and the class. Thank you!

My partner and I had the absolute pleasure hosting our wedding at Nickel 9 and if I could give this place 20 stars, I would. We feel so lucky to have found this venue for our 100 guests. Nickel 9 and the staff were outstanding - so flexible and accommodating. I feel like we couldn’t have found a better venue for us. We had a casual ceremony with a food truck. Nickel 9 helped to create the perfect custom cocktail for our guests and completely transformed the space for us (even opened up a second room for our use!). Stefany, our events contact was so helpful to organize all the details with us. Chris, Greg, Shandy and the entire staff went over and beyond to make our day special. If you’re looking for an event space (for a wedding or otherwise), this venue is perfection. Thank you to the whole team for everything!

Very charming place with attentive and friendly staff. I really enjoyed the tour, tastings, gin, rum, vodkas and cocktails. Definitely worth a visit.

My friends and I had an amazing cocktail class experience here at Nickel 9 Distillery! It was super fun, laid back and welcoming environment! We made 3 unique cocktails with complimentary charcuterie to enjoy in between cocktails. The owner and staff were so engaging and fun!!! Highly recommend checking this place out :)

This is -- by far -- the coolest spot in Toronto. Nickel 9 hosted my bachelor party this past weekend and I can't get over how truly incredible it was. On top of having their own line of house-made spirits (which are exceptional), they created 3 custom cocktails just for us! Aside from their killer drinks and amazing atmosphere, they truly have the best team! Everyone was so kind, generous, talented, and worked tirelessly to make the day so special. Thanks for having us...I already can't wait to come back!

Nickel9 Distillery was the first stop on our trip to Canada from the United States. Beth was outstanding as a tour guide, cocktail teacher and blast to hang out with. She not only taught us the distillation process, but also how to make phenomenal cocktails. Thanks for the recommendations on various sites in Toronto, too! You know your city!!!

We did the tasting tour and had so much fun! You get the chance to create your own cocktail using their large line of flavoured bitters and the spirits were great. Will definitely come back in the summer for cocktails.

This place is charming and cozy. Great spot to have some drinks with friends. The owners are friendly and know their stuff!! Drinks are flavourful and creative. I enjoyed my time here with my husband and friends for an event they held there. Will visit again, definitely!!

This seems a bit nuts but I have to say the Crazy Monkey Vodka may be the worst vodka ever made I would argue that this atrocity to humanity borders on a war crime. The only thing this vodka could be good for is chemical warfare and those responsible should be put on trail at the Geneva convention. I see no other reason someone could have created this vodka without the intent of committing a war crime.
