I usually don't write reviews but this was the best restaurant experience I've had in a long time. The waitress was super nice, helped take pictures of our group, and gave us free miso soup and salad. Someone ordered 2 separate items and the waitress put them into a combo to make it cheaper, even though we didn't know about the combos. We ordered some of the special maki rolls to share and the rolls were huge! The food was better quality than most sushi places I've been to before, and the portions were very filling. Definitely recommend!

This restaurant is a hidden gem and we're glad we found it! The rolls are big, fresh, affordable and super good. The beer is cold, the owner and staff are friendly, and the place is very clean with a nice ambience. The rolls tasted like quality sushi... not some run of the mill, all you can eat buffet. Very filling and very affordable for the quality. We will definitely be back!

My favorite Japanese sushi and sashimi place. I have tried many in Waterloo, Kitchener and Cambridge. This is the best if you are looking for fresh, great value and great tasting food. My favorite is bento box B. You are not paying for atmosphere. Just for great food and service. Also supporting a local business.

First time trying Goen and we loved it! Vibe was mellow, meal came with complimentary miso soup and salad, and the sushi rolls were divine!

We walked in here and the place was empty which made us very skeptical of the rating. There was not a lot of staffing (as with most businesses these days) and we originally thought service was slow. After our food came out we realized that everything was oversized and delicately arranged. The flavours were excellent. Presentation was excellent. I still could not believe that this gem was empty. Warning to everyone like us that order as if you’re at an all you can eat, the portions are massive. We ordered 3 rolls and a seaweed salad for two people and we took half the rolls as take away. Highly recommend this place. I learned an important lesson about judging a book by its cover.

Had a pleasant dinner here. Very friendly staff. Had a small wait but food was worth it. Get the Kelsey roll and the Yam/avo roll. It was almost too much for 1 person

Looks to be a family run spot.Service was friendly.Sushi was delicious and fresh. We ordered sake and was gifted a tasty app to go along.One of the better sushi spots in the KW area.Spicy Salmon was a favourite for us :)

The sushi and service is amazing!!! Tried sushi in many places, but you cannot beat the freshness and quality of the product. Prices also very reasonable! 5 stars for fresh sushi and quantity

Tried this place for the first time. I absolutely loved it! The rolls are huge, fresh and light. The rice ratio was perfect and the sashimi was good, not the best I have had but it's less than $2 a piece. I will definitely be going backThe only thing that was rough was the amount of cucumber. WAY too much, substitute it with more fish or avocado.
