The Little Red Playhouse Bilingual Preschool

My son is on spectrum and this place is so welcoming and virtuous to his needs. We are seeing great improvements in my son after starting at LPR. Highly recommended!

This preschool has been such a great environment for my two children. My eldest moved into maternelle so well prepared for such a big life transition. At drop off, we are greeted with familiar, smiling faces from educators who are fantastically qualified. It’s nice to leave our kids with folks that we truly trust.The social skills program helped both of our kids develop the ability to name and express their emotions, deal with difficult situations and gave them the confidence to try new things.They are well staffed to maintain low teacher-student ratios. Any time there has been a slight behavioural issue or language deficit, they are quick to reinforce good behaviours and redirect poor ones.All in all, LRP has been (and continues to be) a safe, warm, and welcoming place for my children to learn and explore.

My son went to LRP for a very significant speech delay when he was 2 and a half. Not only did they help with his delay, they helped with his confidence and sometimes social anxiety. My daughter also went but without any delays, we loved the integrated approach. Their expertise is like no other preschool in the city or surrounding areas . I wish my three children could have done K-11 at LRP. We are so grateful for everything they did for our son and our family.

If you are considering putting your child in the ABA program at the Little Red Playhouse, our experience was that the approach was fairly rigid, and not individualized for our child’s needs.This was our first ABA experience as a family so we didn’t have anything to compare it to. We had parental questions and concerns that we shared along the way, but were disappointed in the lack of receptive communication. We also didn’t have direct communication with the BCBA besides running into her outside 1-2 times in the 6 months our son attended there.When our pre-verbal toddler would go into crisis during an ABA session, he would have to work through the task, such as complete a puzzle (which he hated on the best of days), to redirect his dysregulation before being shown comfort, like his blanket or baby water bottle. Note: The ABA in the morning took place in their basement rooms, which was sometimes problematic when our son needed more support. I would like to highlight that my son's 1-on-1 therapist was very kind. We were not given the opportunity to observe his ABA sessions. Because of Covid, we were told that it would not be at all possible to coordinate. Upon request, we received a few videos.The school, from our observation (in the morning at least), was mainly geared for neurotypical children with a few autistic children when we attended. It wasn’t as inclusive as we had anticipated. Our son's last day was when I could hear him crying from outside the building.He now happily attends another pre-school, which we have experienced has a truly naturalistic and child-led approach.

Founded and run by the dynamic Sharon McCarry who is dedicated to integrated classrooms for kids with autism and neurotypical kids so they learn from each other. Highly recommend this school. As an autism mom myself, I know the benefits of an integrated class for early literacy and social skills.

The educators here possess a level of knowledge that clearly surpasses that of regular educators. They truly understand how to engage any child not simple those with learning difficulties. My child loves learning at The Little Red Playhouse, I would not hesitate to recommend this place to any parent who simply wants their child to grow up with memories of a positive learning experience.

I visited this daycare multiple times to enroll, as soon as they saw my child, without asking me a question, they told me she wasn't ready to attend there. Then during the meeting, they changed their mind. It was clear then they only accepted level 1 ASD children. The fees are ridiculous. way more expensive than any other places. I still almost enrolled because I was desperate, but I told then I needed 1:1 therapy for my daughter as my neuropsychologist recommended us and they told me they didn't think my child needed 1:1 therapy, I told then that was the doctor suggestion and I wanted to go by her recommendation and then, radio silence, the secretary and whole school ghosted me after I asked for them to listen to my doctor. They never reply to me again

LPR has the most wonderful staff who are so committed to their students- creating a wonderful environment for children to learn and grow. My daughter is on the spectrum and has been there for almost two years now and I cannot express more gratitude for how well they take care of her and how much she has developed and grown while attending this school. Thank you to all the staff!!

The Little Red Playhouse is an AMAZING place for ALL pre-schoolers!!!!They have worked wonders with my little man who is on the spectrum. They integrate neuro-typical kids with ASD kids and the result is FANTASTIC. Christopher has broken though so many barriers and gained many important skills in such a short period of time. They care so much about each and every child and provide them with individual plans suited for their needs. It's not a ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL approach. There aren't enough STARS to rate this place. If I had ONE complaint, is that I couldn't take all the amazing educators and therapists with me!!!!

I have been working with LRP over the last year and found the staff to be extremely professional and in tune with the individual needs of the children in thier care. The program and environment are very stimulating and the educators are hard working no matter the challenge. It is a pleasure to work alongside them. Keep up the good work!Kelly WilsonMADS, BCBA
