Shiny Tea - Aberdeen Square

Great little bubble tea shop with lots of options ! ❤️

I had Ginger Guiyuan (or Longyan) Tea, which was not okay at all. I didn’t think I ordered a good type of tea they specialize in making, so I gave it 3 stars (actually 2.5 stars). The time when I was hesitating which one I wanna order, one of their staff was friendly to show me their pineapple green tea and let me try it. Considering I had a tendency of getting a cold, I ordered the ginger guiyuan tea with 30 percentage of sugar. While ordering, the girl behind the counter was impatient and lazy to explain any questions, except informing that I cannot select the proportion of sugar for this drink. But for whatever reason I cannot recall clearly, later she asked me how much sugar I wanna choose between 30 and 70percent. Then I said 30percent. It turns out the drink is so bitter and spicy since the flavour of ginger covers all the other flavours. Besides, they didn’t put enough guiyuan and red dates, which made it quite weird. I just finished one third of it, and had to toss the rest. As previous comments mentioned, their cup is made of non environmentally-friendly material.

Picked up a mango cheesecake and it was delicious! A great mix of fluffy and creamy. Unfortunately they did run out of spoons, so I picked up a few forks from the food court.

Shiny tea is one of the first stores to enter Aberdeen Square. They are part of Hanlin group, the inventor of bubble tea in Taiwan. It is a little cheaper than Hanlin, but a little cheaper. Perfect for grab and go.

The Panda Milk Tea is my go to drink, but I came here for the Tealato, but it's not as fancy as I had thought. The Tie Guan Yin was definitely better. Despite being pink, the strawberry was very subtle. I highly suggest to stick with the smaller size first and don't choose boba because they freeze and shrivel and lose their chew in the ice cream.

The most authentic bubble tea in town! Can’t miss it!

Let me start by saying I love Shiny Tea. They’re the best bbt in Vancouver as far as I’m concerned. This review is purely about this one location, not the business in general. I placed a mobile order, arrived just before the estimated pickup time, waited another ten minutes when they asked if I had ordered yet. Confirmed my order and got it a few minutes after that. This used to be my favourite location but after this experience I’ll think hard before going back.
