Lovingly restored Queen Anne revival style home in the middle of the West End. Each room is filled with artifacts illustrating the family's lifestyle. I was surprised to learn that the family had only one servant for such a large house and family. An entertaining way to connect to the past - Gustav Roedde was Vancouver's first bookbinder, a professional, and Matilda was a housewife, as women conventionally were then. Although similar in time period to Craigdorroch Castle in Victoria, this house represents a much more middle class lifestyle, and makes for relevant comparisons to today's families and homes.Hours are limited, do check before making plans, and combine with a walk around the lovely neighbourhood to extend the ambience.

Really amazing tour guide. So informative. Well worth the money plus you get a cup of tea in a China cup and saucer.

Quite an experience taking a glimpse at the past. Kudos to the efforts of the people who have been maintaining this beautiful house. There were a couple of creepy moments to be honest, which may be due to the way the past has been recreated and the lack of ventilation due to closed windows in some rooms.

Incredible time capsule! Stepping into this little pocket of history was so captivating. The smallest details were on display to really let a person imagine what it would have been like to live there. The amazing history of the family and all its treasures, was neat. The house itself was the best part. All the rooms and decorations were excellently preserved.

It’s nice and well maintained. Staff were nice but the whole time we were there they kept discussing their personal lives loudly. Including sensitive issues like Vancouver housing problems.

Really interesting small museum. We went on a Friday morning while on holiday in Vancouver and were given a guided tour (no extra cost) by the very knowledgeable volunteer guide. A fascinating look at the history of Vancouver from the 1870s to around the 1930s, seen from the perspective of one family and one house. Really recommend it. You could look around the whole house in fifteen minutes, but we were there for at least an hour and could have stayed longer.

Absolutely love this place. I went there for the Christmas market and for the scary Victorian Christmas story event. Looking forward to more events in the future!
