Today i had the opportunity to Take a friend Tanya to see you with her precious Baxter this afternoon. I have cats and dogs all my life and have been to many many Vets. I felt i had to comment on what i saw today. Your clinic is one of a kind.!! I have never ever seen such Compassionate and Caring people to your extent .! The time all of you take to discuss and explain in detail ,and options with owners to make them comfortable and especially how you deal with pets . As i sat in the room with her i was overwhelmed with how you deal with situations, the atmosphere and most of all the caring. If the rating was higher than 5 I'd rate it that or more. You people are amazing to say the least. Linda Degraw

Bit of back story my grandma use to take her dogs here that is how I knew about them.We started going here when my older dog started having teeth issues. Pricing was great and staff was super friendly!fast forward to about 1 1/2 ago dog became very ill and had to be put down. All the staff was AMAZING on how they treated me and my dog. Very respectful, helpful and understanding of how I was feeling. Now we bring our puppy here and still have nothing but great things to say! Thank you for being so great.

I would not recommend taking your pets here. We went to this vet for over 2.5 years before we lost our dog. Within the week that she started getting sick she was taken to multiple appointments, and given multiple diagnoses, and medications, which all seemed to make her worse. We were told she would make a full recovery and instead she passed away within days. The day she passed away after rushing her to the vet, we were told it was a ‘fluke”. We originally chose to take our puppy here because we knew a couple of friends & a family member that took their pets here. Now finding out recently that all 3 people had previously changed vets for different reasons. It’s hard for us to accept that after doing everything we thought was right, following exact instructions given to us by the vet, we still somehow lost her. Our biggest regret is not taking her somewhere else for a 2nd opinion; we believe she would still be here if we did. It all happened so quickly and at the time we thought we were doing everything right. I’ll admit most of the employees here are kind and seem knowledgeable, trust the professionals, that’s what we are told but sometimes those are people that let us down most. Whether it was a lack of experience or the fact they didn’t make her a priority, we’re so heartbroken that we lost such an important member of our family.

Beware of extra vaccinations and upselling. Vet shows limited ability to diagnose or think critically aside from pushing products. At the end of October 2022 our dog wet the bed several times and we visited the vet and were provided antibiotics for a bladder infection from the vet. After overcoming the bladder infection our dog was not eating as much as usual and lost a few pounds from 25lbs to 22lbs but was overdue for annual booster shots. On December 21, 2022 we returned to the vet. First the dog was weighed, and we discussed the weight loss. Then the dog was provided the necessary booster shots. After the necessary booster shots, the dog was brought into another room where it was NOT explained that an additional rabies shot that was NOT due yet would be given to the dog. This shot was not due until 2024 and was given two full years early to a dog we already discussed had lost some weight and was not at full health. After we called in to question this additional vaccine after looking over receipts, it was explained that because the dog could have a compromised immune system, they felt the additional vaccine was necessary. In hindsight, and after some research this additional rabies vaccine should not have been administered to a dog experiencing any complications. After that appointment the dog was eating less and got very sick.On January 6, 2023 we returned again to the vet and now the dog was down to 20lbs. One blood test was done, fecal test and an examination. Nothing was diagnosed and our dog was sent home with more antibiotics, renal pro and what was explained as an appetite stimulant. We were told to wait 10 days. We could not wait ten days so we called on Sunday, January 8, 2023 to ask for advice if we should take our dog to emergency as she completely stopped eating and had gotten very weak. The vet told us to come Monday, January 9, 2023 and leave the dog there for the day.On January 9, 2023 we requested an IV for the dog as she had lost so much weight and was very weak. They performed tests throughout the day and finally diagnosed the dog as hypo-thyroid. Pills were provided but we were told to keep administering all the other medications provided on January 6, 2023. The dog seemed better after the IV and we thought the hypo-thyroid pills were helping. At this point we were syringe feeding the dog. We were told we needed to give the pills time. On Thursday, January 12, 2023 our dog passed away from food in the lungs. Looking back, it took far too long to diagnose the dog and the unnecessary rabies vaccine contributed to the rapid deterioration of our dog's health. Blood tests were performed October, 2022, January 6, 2023 and finally January 9, 2023. If a more comprehensive blood test was offered sooner the dog could have been diagnosed a lot earlier and never been at risk of aspirating. Receipt shows rabies vaccine and when they were due.A mini-golden doodle with a healthy weight of 25lbs was provided an additional tri-annual rabies vaccine at less than three years of age when not at full health. Diagnosis took far too long, and after the full deterioration of our dog's health, we don't believe the vet was ever confident in diagnosis.

On Feb 17, 2023 (oddly enough exactly 3 years to the day of us adopting our dog!) the Shaw Road Vet staff saved our dog, Zeus, from severe dehydration, after being very sick for 3 days as a result of him eating an unknown toxin. Other vet clinics would have given up on him, as he would not cooperate in the clinic (didn’t like the IV in his leg) or eat from 10:30am to 3pm, but they kept trying! Administering IV in appropriate doses/sessions for his skinny build, and continuous food encouragement. After various medications and lots of love, they were finally able to get Zeus to cooperate AND eat a bit (but only out of their hand of course!) and he finally became hydrated enough to do blood tests etc. The staff also educated us on the appropriate amount of time for Zeus to be unwell before we take him in (we shouldn’t have waited over 24 hours) in noting that every animal is different and our Zeus is and always has been a challenging and unique case! Lol. We have always been extremely thankful to have found such an amazing family/group of people to care for Zeus (and great prices too!), but nearly losing him yesterday made us feel the need to do our first ever google review in hopes that the staff understand how very much we have always appreciated them, but that words are not enough for how thankful we are that they saved our ‘youngest child’ yesterday. All staff even stayed late on a Friday before a long weekend to ensure Zeus was stable enough to go home, and that we fully understood the medication, recovery food, and care regiment before taking him home. THANK YOU!!!

We have been clients of this vet clinic for 20 years. The staff here have treated us fairly well and have treated our cats well also. One of our cats died tragically a few years ago and the vet was very, very compassionate, efficient, and sympathetic, which was important to us at the time. Our second cat now is 18 years old and we think she needs to be put down because she's suffering. She has been a patient at this clinic for 18 years .I called there this morning to bring her in and I was told they had too many clients and to go somewhere else. I reinforced that we were clients of their clinic and they said they had too many clients and to go to an emergency vet if I needed to. I'm dumbfounded at the change in this facility's bedside manner, disrespect, lack of compassion and dismissive nature. I understand times are tough and staffing is a challenge in most businesses but I am shocked and disappointed at the manner I was spoken to on the phone.

i have been going to this family vet for longer than I can remember and cannot believe that someone would write a review to punish them for being too busy - during the pandemic these folks were the best - you didn’t have to leave family outside or choose who got to go in to say good bye to your family vet - you didn’t have to hand your pet over and hope they weren’t to scared without you - they welcomed you in and then because they are swamped - you complain - you give them a bad review - not right - which client should they have asked to NOT bring their pet in because you decided today was the day! I’m grateful I didn’t get the call to cancel because my pup needed to be there! They already work crazy hours - and it’s not fair for you to put a review like that to make them feel bad for not being available! I respect this family and trust them with the health of my babies and clearly do a lot of others! If you’re looking for proper care for your family pet then look no further but trust that they will do what they can 100% of the time and will not push you aside because someone asks them too!
