The Hourly Oyster House
Meh. Had lunch here and it was fine, but just fine. The oysters were great, the calamari was tasty but a little greasy, the tuna tartar was flavorless with simultaneous mushy and hard sushi rice underneath. The fries were great and the atmosphere was fun and comfortable. If you’re craving oysters it’s worth stopping for some, but there’s better food to be had in the area

The Hourly Oyster House was simply delicious! It’s in a great location near the Harvard University Campus. The environment was extremely lively and comfortable, and the staff was excellent. We started with the hush puppies and chili butter, which were lightly fried and tasty. We got the lobster mac and cheese, seared scallops with risotto, and lobster roll. All the food tasted extremely fresh and delicious. Come here, and you will not regret it!

Cannot recommend this place enough. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. This was our first time in Boston, and we were happy that the servers came to explain the process of ordering. They were attentive and even made sure that we had enough utensils for a dish we were sharing. Multiple servers came to ensure that we were enjoying our food and we were very comfortable. The food was not too heavy but really enhanced on the true taste of Boston seafood. Definitely visit!

I was looking for a place with good clam chowder but then randomly stopped by this place since it was close to my hotel. They probably had one of the best clam chowders in Boston, compared to other famous ones. The lobster roll was good too.

Amazing food. The lobster roll was worth every penny. Super friendly staff- my buddy left his bag behind and they called me 10 minutes after we left to ask if we left it behind which saved a massive headache. Thanks team

The Hourly Oyster House
Casual oyster bar in Harvard square with high quality oysters and average entrées.Came here on a weekday to grab some fresh oysters and seafood dishes. We started off with a dozen east coast oysters, and their quality was certainly on par with that of famous oysters bars in Boston. For appetizers, we had the grilled octopus and the blackened swordfish tacos. Topped with chimichurri and paprika aioli, the grilled octopus was definitely the most interesting dish from the menu. The combination of mango curtido and pickled onions on the tacos also went well with the sturdy texture of the swordfish. On the other hand, the entrées we ordered were good but plain. Both the lobster roll and the beer-battered fish and chips were simple but lacked unique toppings or sauces. The quality of the batter on fish and chips was also a bit disappointing, and the only thing I liked was their tartare sauce.A good causal dinner overall, but their entrée selections were a bit lacking compared to other popular oysters bars in the city. Service was great throughout and the menu here was slightly more affordable, but I still feel a bit hesitant about going back to try more.

Excellent food in a lively nice atmosphere. Oysters are nearly a must here, there is a wide variety to choose from. Lobster roll was also excellent, good selection of wines and very friendly staff.

A nice and unassuming restaurant. The dishes were done well. The octopus appetizer came with a hearty amount of potatoes and chorizo. The entrees were generously sized and delicious!

Delicious! We went for Sunday brunch -- the seafood tower (oysters, clams, shrimp, lobster, tuna crudo, shrimp ceviche), clam chowder, mussels, and octopus were great. Lobster bisque was a little salty. Recommend making a reservation. If there's 4+ in your party, try to get a booth as the high tops are a little snug.We waddled over to Mike's next door afterward for cannolis. Perfect Sunday afternoon.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Boston so far. We got the salmon and the seared scallops, along with the lobster bisque for a starter. Drinks were phenomenal (caipiroska and an old fashioned) and the service was quick. Couldn’t ask for more from a nice restaurant in a great location off of Harvard Square.
