Update on Photo Radar& Yellow light/Red Light Traffic Cameras:Just this week I have observed two more yellow light/red light traffic cameras. 1) at Terry Fox Dr. Kanata and Sobeys entrance intersection. The camera is on the north bound Terry Fox lane, but the camera is aiming at the southbound lane. 2) March Rd and Carp Rd. intersection.Note: many photo radar cameras are not at all obvious (no signage, dull, grey color). City reports that each camera system is leased from a vendor, and one camera system costs taxpayers on average $54,000 to implement. Not sure total number of cameras throughout the city, but you can immagine the total cost for all these cameras could possibly be in the millions.I have observed in the past 3-4 months, that the number of red/yellow traffic light radar cameras at intersections throughout the City of Ottawa, has grown rapidly. Why? Is this due to the possibility that Police Services are running a deficit, and need to improve their financials? Are the growing red/yellow traffic light offenses, and resulting fines paid, increasing revenue for Police Services, or the Municipal or Provincial treasuries?
