Dagu Hot Pot Waterloo

I'm a fan of Dagu, really love their tomato and pork bone noodle soup. However the changing portion is a problem, sometimes wayyy too tasteless. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is bc a cheese mango drink I ordered was definitely out of date. Can u imagine there were precipitate and weird smell in the drink? Idk if it will happen again but giving stale drinks to customers is one thing I can't accept.

Cannot believe that the food delivery need 1hour and a half to my place. Only 1km. How slow you guys make noodles. The environment is ok but the service in here used to be extremely bad. And it is better now to be honest. What a slow noodles maker!

After months of doubt, I decided to give this place a try and ordered a take out on sour spicy flavored crossing the bridge rice noodle soup with beef slice. Surprisingly, the food was quite good and portion was generous. Loved the free toppings which makes the dish so much more interesting as you discover new items every scoop of the bowl. There could be a bit more beef slices but well, that probably where the profit lies. I was confused by the low rating so going over the reviews, it seems that most of the complaint was service. I can't speak for the service as I ordered a take out. But if you enjoy a good hearty noodle soup, I definitely recommend this place as its food quality is among the top in the plaza.

Comoaring to their GTA stores, the place is below average. Soup was half full to begin with, the other small dish ingredients were put into the bowl instead of allowing us to do it (I.e. you can't pick out stuff you may not want), and the taste for the tomato base soup (comment from my friend) was not as savoury as the GTA stores.Given there's no other restaurants like this in KW, this might be what you're stuck with. The food itself is OK. But GTA stores definitely are much better.One pro is that the cashier/server was very friendly and always had a smile on and greeted us.

The soup tastes like water. The portion of the dishes is smaller than other locations(the ones you add to the soup). Service is not great and their speed is pretty slow during peak hours. Go to other locations for a better taste.

A group of my friends and I decided to try hot pot for the first time last week. We weren't very hungry and asked if we could only pay for each individual item. Our waitress could barely speak English but nodded. We thought she understood. There was only 1 other table in the whole restaurant and they were finishing up. We sat there for such a long time waiting for anything that we ordered. When we got the food, it was honestly bland. The only thing we enjoyed was the dessert buns. When it came time to pay after barely eating anything, we were forced to pay $45 per person. Which is insane for the quality and amount of food we ate. I genuinely feel so bad for the waitress because she could not understand any questions we asked. We tried to use Google Translate, but that didn't work. We're pretty sure the waitress was recording us and our interaction because we had wanted to pay for the items we ordered, not all you can eat price, which wasn't explained to us very well at the start. Do not come to this restaurant unless you speak fluent Chinese because you won't be able to communicate to staff otherwise. I would definitely recommend hiring staff who speak fluent English because this is a primary English speaking country. It's going to be very hard to communicate with the majority of guests and provide proper service if your staff can not understand anything the guests ask them. We will not be coming back.

I like rice noodles a lot. So when I first saw that there was a Dagu opening in the plaza, I was ecstatic. There's a number of Lanzhou style hand pulled noodles around this area, but Dagu is the only place to get Yunaan rice noodles around here. I've been to a couple of other Dagu locations before, and generally they're pretty solid.The food quality was okay. I feel that the other locations were better, but this one wasn't awful. The noodles were a little mushier than usual, but I didn't really mind.Now the real problem: wait times. It was dreadfully slow. I sat down around 9:45 so it was already pretty empty. There were two tables beside me, and judging by their expressions, they had been already waiting for a while. That's when I realized that I never actually looked at any reviews for this place yet, and a quick glance online told me to expect long wait times even though it was empty.Unfortunately, those reviews were accurate. I have no idea how long those 2 tables had to wait for their food, but I had to wait over 40 minutes. If you've never been to these types of noodle soup places before, they bring out the noodles in a bowl (which you can ask for refills), and then the soup in a seperate bowl. The noodles came out early and sat on the table. By the time the soup came, the noodles were barely warm. Did they run out of soup or something? Who knows.I saw some other tables order the crossing bridge" noodles which came out a little faster. So if you must get your fix of rice noodles

Can't say anything about peak hours, but I went there for lunch on Sunday and the service was pretty quick. The waiter refilled or water jug without asking.Food wise, the noodles were pretty good. But the base doesn't come with much meat so prepare to order some extra. Keep in mind that you have unlimited refills for noodles, so just ask the waiter. So if you're looking to walk out full, this is your place.

The food is actually quite good, and the unlimited refills are amazing, that is, if you can actually get the waiters to bring them.The largest problem with this place is the horrible service. It's not anything to do with the attitude of the staff, but rather the incompetence. You ask for water, expect to have to ask again. People just forget completely what you ask them. I've also been brought the broth before the ingredients and the noodles, and the broth was just sitting and cooling off.Everyone just seems confused and in a frantic daze, and like everyone in this review section mentioned, wait times are long. This place has proper food, it just needs to be properly organized.

Despite the low ratings, I wanted to give this place a try! It seems like they really took the feedback to heart because when we arrived on Thursday evening, we were seated immediately and tended to quite well. They were more than well staffed, with people walking around to refill water, grab more napkins or answer questions about the menu.The noodles and soup was absolutely delicious. The portion was huge too, we couldn’t finish it and had to take some home. The appetizers were just alright, not sure if I’ll get that again. I really enjoyed the cheese drink though! I got the Cheese Strawberry and it was really neat, sweet and tea-like, but my partner wasn’t a fan.They actually screwed up and brought the wrong bowl of soup to our table. They brought out the correct one within minutes of us alerting them, and of course, they didn’t charge us for the mishap.All in all, it seems like they cleaned up their act. Our experience at Dagu certainly wasn’t what you’d expect a “2.2” restaurant to be like.
