They never paid on 3 accounts, owing almost $5000.00 in outstanding royalties, for radio plays, live performances and background music, after meeting all the requirements and generating our own detailed royalty report, identifying with all the missed plays. Heads Up. After numerous attempts over a span of two weeks to talk to someone from Member Services, an attendant finally picked up the phone and we were able to have a conversation. Emails go unanswered, voice mails are ignored and the likelihood of actually connecting with a staff member is impossible. Offices are closed in spite of their website inviting members to make an appointment for visitation. Staffing seems to be a challenge and the whole member experience has been nothing short of frustrating.

The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada is a performance rights organization that was founded in 1990. Great not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping musicians get paid for their music.

I called SOCAN a few days ago asking to register and I asked them if I get paid if my music gets played at McDonald's and they said I only get paid through radio plays when their website AND YouTube videos specifically said I get paid everywhere. If I'm not going to get paid through basic stores such as McDonald's then they shouldn't state it in their website because they are lying to us and it's illegal.

Hello? Does anyone even work here? I've been trying to submit an application for months. I've filled out and submitted the required forms through the website, and there's been no response. I've emailed several times - no response. I've called and left messages - no response.
