National Car Rental

I had a terrible experience at this location (226 Queen street, Ottawa). The costumer service is so bad. the agent is so slow and not nice to me at all. the car was not clean, gas was not full. When I asked they told me we will calculate the gas when you return. It is not a full option car and you will never know how much gas it was missing!! the return was as bad as the pick up the same lady took about half an hour to finish the costumer before me and no one else there. She did not want to give me the final receipt and said will send by email. I picked another car under Enterprise as I had enough with national but she put it under National and gave me a completely wrong contract. I called back and she said she fixed it and can't send it be email I have to go back to the location to pick it up!!!

We have a national contract with National and we only run into problems at this location - frequently. Booked online last week via our government contract., received confirmation as per the contract that our daily rate will be $42.99/day for three days. Upon pick up, explained we will drop off Saturday afternoon to be told they are not open and can''t drop until Monday morning. Upon dropping Monday (today), was charged $100.07/day at 4 days. Called to only get voice messaging. Have call in with head office now. Plus, car tires were not road worthy for Ottawa's weather.

I have been using this location to rent vehicles for just over a year now and I have been very pleased with both the product and service I have received.Their prices are among the most reasonable I have found and I can use my Air Miles to redeem. Plus, staff have frequently offered me a free upgrade when possible. Very professional staff but also relaxed and comfortable in their approach.

Rented a car for Easter weekend. Had initially booked a mid-size, but they didn't have one at pickup time (they were quite busy) so we were offered an SUV. It was a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander with about 4000 km, so a recent vehicle in essentially new condition. It was clean and had a full tank of gas. Customer service was polite, friendly and efficient despite how busy they were. The whole process went smoothly. Will definitely be renting from this location again.

Got a car with damage. Not a problem. Happens.Then was told 1/4 tank. With the cost plus the hold and gas. Already spent 900 dollars went 13 km so far. I can't believe with advanced notice and early morning rental. This is allowed to happen. And the car isn't prepared for a renter. I'll pay the premium at the airport next time. Never have problems there.

I don't even have words to qualify how bad National Car Rental is. I won't make it long but we rented a car a couple days ago to go to Montreal and catch a flight back home. Before going to take the car at that Ottawa location (Downtown) we made sure to call National Car Rental phone number to MAKE SURE that everything was fine with our reservation. We made sure to mention that we had an international driving licence and the person that we had on the phone assured us that there was ZERO problems with that.Today, we arrived at national and were told that nobody from national car rental was there for us and that we had to talk to someone from enterprise (we had an appointment at 4:45PM). The person was really nice but told us that we couldn't rent the car because it was illegal for us to drive with a belgian permit (written in french and English) !?! I've asked to talk to a supervisor or whoever could give me a clear explanation of what was going. As I called the number he gave me and try to resolve a very serious problem (we have our flight tomorrow), this person told me that she wasn't working and was available tomorrow?!? I couldn't believe it.I was very frustrated and hung up the phone.I really don't recommend any international traveler to rent a car with this company in Canada, at least. There needs to be a BIG change on their website and their phone services needs to provide customer with the SAME and EXACT information that the website is providing.This situation is totally unacceptable. I sincerely hope that my situation will help you make the best decision when choosing a rental car company (since this is the second time we had problems with them).

I really like going to the Queen St. location. The service is great and typically there’s a good choice of cars available. The only issue to be mindful of is that it is difficult to return cars after hours. You’ll need to factor that in with your return.

Great customer service. Had to rent a car for the holidays last minute are my car required extended repairs. Even though the office was about to close, Nick waited and asked me to come. He went above and beyond and ensured I had a car and extended a great deal for me. Highly recommend this place. Thank you very much Nick.

Friendly and helpful staff but poor management practices. They will overcharge you multiple days if you drop your keys in the drop box past early morning hours (especially on a Saturday). Even when there is a sign on the door to come back in 15 minutes or leave keys in Dropbox, they don't check the lockbox upon return. The location needs more staff, you may have to call up to 15 times to reach through telephone.

Very unprofessional service, they oversell and then call people on the day of pickup that they cannot arrange a vehicle and try their best to upsize of downsize the car irrespective of what you requested. I had to wait more than 1 hour to pickup the vehicle and due to inconvenience i was told that i will get discount but when i dropped the vehicle at Montreal airport, i was only given half of what was promised, when i called the lady who served me for pickup said she don’t remember that. Pathetic experience!! Would suggest try any other location or rental company!
