We were visiting Detroit, and Christine's turned up as a highly recommended place that happened to be nearby when we were hungry. Thank you to the Local Guides and others that led us here.The only issue I encountered was having too much of a good thing - I ordered a St. Patty's omelette, and the server asked me if I wanted everything with it. I should have asked for details, because the omelette not only came with an terrific side of their potato hash, but also had a substantial amount of potato as part of the corned beef hash inside.The highlight at our table was my wife's side order of 3 pierogies (which she was kind enough to share). They came with carmelized onions, which were the perfect addition (along with sour cream, of course). Christine's was a wonderful place for a quick meal with friendly service.

Honestly the food and the attitude of the workers carried the place. It isn't much for ambiance but definitely delicious food. I got the potato pancakes and my bf got the potato and cheese pierogies. I ate until I couldn't eat another bite, even eating one of my bf's pierogies... I would recommend testing the tables before you sit down because one of them was alarmingly wobbly. The lady was really nice and I appreciate the great attitude given she looked like she was running circles around herself.

Coffee was burnt, instead of fresh,server topped it with water and brought the same burnt coffee back to me. My bean salad was presented without beans or sour cream. Then my $17 entree was served with cold noodles. When I enquired??? it was brought back, slammed on the table, and I was admonished it's supposed to be like that" I was told with no offer to heat it per my preference. I got the feeling

It’s a shame I have to write such a bad review. I used to like this place…and today my experience was very disappointing. I came for a carry out and the server at the counter didn’t seemed to care for customer service AT ALL. She seemed bothered when I asked for the price for each item. In fact, she didn’t even know the price for the dessert. Seriously? If you are going to be server, the least you can do is know your menu.. then she mentioned there was an extra charge when using a credit card over cash. She didn’t bothered to tell this me before paying. Very disappointed that this place is not what it used to be. At least the service sucks..

6/19/18 added pics...Excellently prepared & seasoned food, but it's tiny...reminds me of those long narrow wonderful restaurants in NYC...and a it's bit pricey, but worth it...this isn't cookie-cutter cooking...the food is a creation of the Chef...you won't be disappointed.

Hit or miss. Today (March 2022) I opted for the “daily special” turkey panini for $10. It LITERALLY has 2 slices of turkey in it and didn’t include potato salad as posted.We’ve gotten other food there before and it’s usually pretty good, it we have had other tiny, meh sandwiches from them about 30% of the time. Not sure what’s going on.

It had been a long time since I visited Christine’s but recently I’ve been there multiple times. I could eat the kapusta (baked sauerkraut) every day. The portions are very generous and the flavors are on point. The salads are especially excellent. Desserts are massive and taste fantastic also. Incredibly kind service as well.

The pirogies are great (note that they don’t taste exactly like traditional authentic polish pierogis, the ones from hamtramck, you know!) but they’re still good. I also recommend the Athena salad, the dressing for it tastes a little like traditional fattoush dressing - I add black beans for vegetarian protein and its delicious (pictured). I got this salad carry-out on 10.11.21, my friend had chicken on his. As you can see in my photos, the large size to-go container is a giant portion.

The food was excellent and the staff is amazingly friendly. Such a hidden gem. Super clean and awesome decor. Will make it a regular stop.
