I have been in the shop a few times lately as I have gotten the model Railroad bug. Great hobby shop with lots of awesome options. Great staff and very helpful as I am starting out with the hobby. Excellent! Highly recommended.

One of the most pleasant hobby shops I’ve ever visited. Staff is super friendly, and helpful. They carry a wide range of model, tool, and paint types. Cool atmosphere, fair pricing even when compared to some larger online retailers.

Steve is great. He searched relentlessly for a much needed part , and should be in in 4 days Awesome!!

So much stuff in a small space! Model trains and other build kits. Friendly knowledge staff. Starwars. Hellokitty. Cars. Trucks. Aircraft. Trains....so much more. They can also order items for you. Hobbiests dream.

Awesome place. Decent selection, will order anything you need. The staff if amazing and extremely knowledgeable. They are always ready to give you tips and tricks because they are avid model builders too

Just getting back to the hobby after a 25 yr pause. There is a very good selection of models and supplies, and the staff were friendly and provided a lot of advice, but no sales pressure. I really enjoyed my visit and will be back

Best place for hobbies. Guys are great do deal with. Always willing to see if they can order parts for your hobby. Also the knowledge and help they give when one is starting out in a hobby. I try to go here as much as I can when I can. Amazing prices by far for my rc . Always great to see whatever display is being built like their trainset.

As a hobbiest( model railways) it is important to have a dependable supplier. During the pandemic, the service provided by Steve at Lakehead Models made my isolation so much better. For example, I was able to acquire all the Digital Command Control hardware I required to complete my model railway.In the past few years, Lakehead models has been my “go to hobby shop” in Thunder Bay in any case, but his service in the past year or two has been phenomenal.As for location, it is street parking, however I always am able to find a spot nearby. There are a number of restaurants and shops in the area for family that may not share your enthusiasm , to browse and enjoy.The product selection is excellent, not only for railways but also a large supply plastic models, figurines, and the like. Some of the models are reissues of ones I knew as a child and include vehicles, aircraft, ships, space craft and so much more I can’t begin to describe. Also an excellent selection of paints, glues, filler, tools, brushes and other items required for a fully stocked hobby shop. There is a selection of remote controlled aircraft parts, but it isn’t being restocked, so contact them through their website if you are looking for something.If Steve doesn’t have it, he can order it in for you, if it is available. I can email Steve and (as he knows I will drive 6 hours, as soon as possible, to pickup my order), he will arrange to order it for me. If I can’t get there, he will ship it to me, something that really helped during the pandemic.There are also a number of finished model dioramas, a large scale see- through submarine and an N scale model railway in the front window.

Very knowledgeable and helpful owner and staff. They are great with advise on your hobby as well as your purchase. Good in-store selection for models, RC, trains and other items. Prices are as good, often better than what you find at Amazon.

This is a great place to shop for enthusiasts interested in Planes, Trains, Toy Cars, ECT. Their selection for the models is excellent, they are always very well stocked, and they have more items in the back that aren't on display! The men who run the store are always very friendly and knowledgeable of their products they sell!
