Great place but some hunters in the area that day.

Awesome place but careful at certain times there are duck hunters.

Local Tip: Don't miss going to Coco's in Cedar after for some wholesome food and coffee prepared in a social enterprise that supports disadvantaged youth.

Always something wonderful to see at the Nanaimo River Estuary! Especially if you're a bird watcher/photographer. There is also a Gary Oak tree that stands out. Plus the bonus drive down beautiful Raines Road in Cedar.Peaceful and must be respected.

Why are they changing the estuary when thesalmon are spawning and sent we suppost to save our estuary not change it I think that people we not thinking before they started .yet be some 1st people's that are to save. The envirroment

Dec25/2019.The Nanaimo Snuneymuxw people enabled this park,everyone walks on the road,please drive slowly coming and going.A prerequisite to coming here is to bring a pair of binoculars and a camera. I saw numerous species of marsh life.Try and remember to stay still and be quite if you want to see bird life.I saw a beautiful Kingfisher close enough that showed it’s iridescent blue colours.Also saw white swans,their huge birds.The place is teaming with bird life,I’d think summer is going to be a busy time for all wild life besides bird life.A platform to see over the river that gIves you the advantage of being up high to see over the Nanaimo River.I hope they can build more trails to get out on the river flats.Remember this is at tidal waters so,if you venture around,don’t get trapped by high water. Play safe and have fun.

Just a place to go if you like bird watching very pretty

Nice place to come view wildlife and nature. Beautiful views of the Nanaimo harbour and waterfront. Great raised platform for views and nature photography. If you go at low tide, you are more likely to see certain wildlife on the sandbar, particularly waterfowl.Would give an extra star if there were more trails, though I understand as I believe it's a protected area.
