About the Business
Nelson, BC | The Yellow Deli | Nestled in the beautiful Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia, in the historic town of Nelson, our Yellow Deli restaurant welcomes you. Formerly known as the Preserved Seed, we have come a long way since our beginnings back in 2001, when we started as a tea house with three tables. We started with yerba mate, our own fresh baked bread, and some baked goods from our bakery, which are still main features today. The restaurant features plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with gorgeous views of the lake and the town.

The Yellow Deli
Adorable little resto tucked on a hill in downtown Nelson. The restaurant is part of a commune (some refer to it as a cult); they own a few farms that fuel the restaurants. Everything was home grown, homemade and you could tell was made with live. They have a limited menu daily and sandwiches seemed to be what they were known for. The staff were friendly and happy to discuss the farms in each community. Worth a trip for a true small town experience

I had a sandwich which I believe was called the rose? The sandwich was fantastic and at a super reasonable price. Serving size was not quite enough to fill me up but since items are so cheap I had a cup of chilli which was super rich and I was glad it came with a nice thick slice of sourdough to cut and balance the delicious chilli would recommend and I will surely visit again.

Absolutely fabulous lunch. Loved the outdoor seating. We had the turkey and roast beef sandwiches. Fresh ingredients and amazing break. Would definitely recommend!

The atmosphere was unique, earthy and welcoming along with the folks that make this gem glow. The food was simple and delicious and the portions satisfied me. I highly recommend this yummy little hidden nook and I would eat there again.

Stopped here to grab sandwiches to go & really enjoyed our whole experience! The interior of this business is quite lovely and I hope to return to enjoy more of the atmosphere.The staff are very accommodating - they cleared off a table for us so that we could sit while waiting for our order and brought us water as well.

Tried the Yellow Deli out today. So good and the prices are right! My hubby had the turkey gobler and I had the yoga burger, both meals were delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will be going back to try out other menu items for sure.

The Yellow Deli
After eating at this location many times we started to have conversations with the waiters and quickly found out this is a child abusing and wife beating cult called The Twelve Tribes. The yellow deli has locations across the US, Canada, Japan, Argentina, Australia and China. They live in communal buildings and all profits are given the the head of this cult, tips and all. I would never eat here if you don’t agree with the exploitation of people for free labor and/or the abuse of women and children.

The food here is astoundingly tasty yet wholesome. My favorite place in Nelson, easily. The atmosphere is so earthly authentic. Servers moves comfortably so I feel like I'm not eating in a hussle. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully tasting food, exceptional service, friendly staff that is pleasant to talk to. The atmosphere is very unique. The views from the peripheral tables are amazing. Will be stopping by again.
