You pay to learn by yourself. Zero help from professors and administration. You read like 500-1000 pages a week and you have to choose by yourself what is important. In addition, a lot of team work, and you never can choose your team. The most of the evaluations are writing works ( most of them is a research of scientific sources). Most of your learning time will not be spent for a specific material, but for the reading of explanations and trying to understand how to do the works. In case if you need some accommodations, the answer is always no. Zero flexibility. You feel yourself as a number. In one word, their programs are not done for human, but for a machine who doesn't need to think about it's mental health and about having a life. In addition, it's boring as hell. The most stressful experience ever :(

Great university especially for research, science and medicine. Most students are bilingual even if it’s mainly a French university. Classes often allow manuals in English and even writing your answers in English on the exam if the manual was in English. 10/10Huge campuses. A lot of students. Sometimes too much. 9/10Quality of the professors vary from brilliant minds to poor but 70% are decent and the classes are well organized to cover the necessary material in the specified time frame. 8/10Difficulty varies per program/professor/course/natural talent but it varies a lot. Highest class averages can be as high as in the top 80% while the lowest can be as low as low 20% so exam difficulties vary from very very easy to very very hard which often results in grade standardized adjustments. 7/10Great location. 9/10Outstanding design, student atmosphere and incredibly beautiful outside areas. 9/10Multiple cafeterias and close to Côte-des-Neiges street. 9/10A dozen of libraries. Human sciences library is a whole building in itself. 10/10The administration could be more organized. 5/10Summer session often has very bad teachers that should not teach…to anyone. 3/10Very focused on research and one of the biggest research universities in Canada. 9/10Overall grade, 8/10. Great experience and great place to get a higher education especially if you are looking for graduate degrees (Master’s, PhD) with some downsides but what university is absent of them?

L' Université de Montreal is a nice looking University and here is my review for it.Firstly, the Campus is beautiful. The buildings look and feel old which is nice although they do need a lot of renovations for their older buildings and for sure better care. Some are connected with corridors and passageways and it is nice to walk and see the photos and nice design of the campus. Plus on the mountain you have a nice view of the horizon which is a bonus. This University is similar to McGill. They have programs you can find that are similar to McGill's except it is 100% French.École polytechnique is a nice engineering school as well and the building feels old and again renovation is key here. They have a cool atrium, library and seating pretty much anywhere and the views are sick.A lot of Green spaces, parks and it’s quiet since you a little further from downtown and in the Cote de neiges area. This University is fully french so just be aware when you are getting your services but there are some who speak English and may help you out if need be.This university should be sustainable and environmentally adaptable to future climate change. I hope they do their duediligence for that. They need to eliminate fossil fuels and turn into zero waste, zero pollution and become leed platinum and have electric vehicles or bikes for their patrol and other services. They should do better for the environment and I hope to see those changes in the near future. They have good programs here especially with Health, science, medicine and engineering. Many programs are quite interesting and there is also UQÀM if there are programs here that you can't find within the Arts and vice versa. This university is like McGill with the French. All in all a nice campus and pavillion with amazing spaces to visit and I pass by from time to time. For future, current and past students we all need to be thankful for the education you get from UdeM and be grateful for your time there and be thankful for your education from this great University!

Excellent campus, although the snow removal could be better between some wings and the library. As well, some profs there are jesters. On a positive note, I especially enjoyed the canopy connecting some buildings in the winter.

4.5 stars. I chose this place because the website is very comprehensive and it's easier to navigate than McGill's or Concordia's. That was very useful in choosing my curriculum. The application process was very smooth, only a few question marks. This being said as any application process you need to provide this and that, so be ready and start early. In terms of the main campus the buildings are a bit old (some are being renovated) and it's less pretty than McGill. However the hillside and the view are very nice.

I obtained my master's degree here and while the courses themselves were moderately interesting and the professors mostly approachable, the admin was a nightmare from A to Z. They do not answer emails in a timely manner and do not respond to phone calls whatsoever. I had such a hard time even getting info on admissions because nobody was answering emails. I only found out the week before classes started which courses I had to register for! Coming from another university, I was shocked by the lack of organization and communication. I was also charged $2,000 for a week-long summer course. Absolute robbery. Admin also forced me to stay on an extra semester to simply submit my final internship report so they ended up charging me an entire semester's tuition. Not to mention, I was told I had to enroll in and pass three pre-requisite intro-level courses before being admitted to the master's program because according to admin, I did not have enough credits from my Bachelor's degree. What a waste of time & money!! It's funny how someone I knew did the SAME bachelor's program at the SAME university as me, and was automatically admitted to UdeM's masters program..
