Double Happiness Chinese Restaurant
Ordered lemon chicken wonton soup and egg roll. The total came to $25.00 . They forgot the egg roll. The lemon chicken I've never seen it served like this ever! A full battered chicken brest with a side order of lemon sauce, Can you say holy soy sauce and 4 wontons. Was absolutely disgusting. WHat happened it use to be a good place to eat. Will not be returning wish I could place a picture

We viewed the menu online and called to place a delivery order, the online price for the dinner for 5 was $57.50, but to my surprise when the delivery person arrived our total was $85.00! We then called to discuss this and were told there is nothing they can do for usThat is ILLEGAL! false advertising is illegal, you don't go to a restaurant, ordering something listed a certain price and them raise it when it's time to payAlso, the food was terrible and very small portions. We will never order from here again

Ordered a large 9 item take-out order at 4:30pm on Lunar New Year's Day. Was ready in half an hour ! Not expensive at all. Everyone got one of their favorite dishes. Everything tasted great !! Everyone was stuffed afterwards. Definitely will order there again, soon!!

So incredibly disappointed!! Just spent over $100 on food and it is probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Even worse, this has always been my favourite place to order from. Not sure what happened but we will never be back. Zero flavour, veggies all overcooked and mush, meat tasted freezer burnt. I could go on but instead I will never go back! I highly recommend that anyone reading this goes elsewhere too!

Odered out first time customer. The staff was nice. The quality of the food is good. I ordered the ribs, chicken balls, noodles, and rice. Everything was cooked. I loved the chicken balls. actual chicken balls unlike 98 panda in wasaga where the chicken balls are not balls at all. walking into the store feels like an authentic chinese restaurant.Other peoples reviews online saying that the food has no flavor are people who probably had covid. I am not trying to defend a resturant but when people make bold statements about food is very destructive when an atomic business kill bomb imploded the entire economy. more people will die from ramifications of the lockdowns than from covid hoax itself. Therefore it is morally right this wrong kick start our economy again.

I have never had a problem with Double Happiness before, but that changed on Sunday. I spent fourteen years working for a Cantonese owned business in my youth, so I developed a taste for certain Cantonese dishes that most people don't order because we would go out to eat after work at their friend's Chinese restaurant. One of these dishes is Salt and Pepper Squid. Double Happiness is the only place in Midland that serves this dish, and I order it quite regularly. What I received last night was not fit to feed to raccoons. They have changed their product due to supply issues, according to the person on the phone. They should not be serving this at all! Firstly it had an overpowering fish odour mixed with a chemical tang. I took a bite out of one, and discovered that they did not remove the cartilage/gladius. So I could not bite through it due to that, and that piece, and every piece had it still in the squid. It is like a strip of plastic akin to a rubber band. I took another and ate it whole. Which I will regret later. I noticed a chemical taste as well, and found that the 3rd, and 4th piece had this cartilage as well as I tore them open with my hands. I assumed every piece was like this. I called the restaurant not to complain, but to politely inform them of this, and to let them know that thay should not serve this to anybody as it is inedible. The person on the phone was nice, and asked me to hold so that they can speak to their manager and work out a discount on my next order. They left me on hold - ignoring me - for 30 minutes! When I finally hung up and tried to call again they would not answer the phone. I gave up on this and went back to eat the remainder of my meal - beef with broccoli - which was now cold. Still, that chemical taste was on my mouth and tongue from the squid, and even was 'burning' my tongue. The rest of the squid went straight to my compost bin (as seen in the 2nd picture), as it was inedible garbage. I was up half the night with food poisoning from the squid. It was disgusting. One and a half eaten pieces had made me so sick! Even this morning as I write this my stomach is still cramped and that chemical taste is still on my tongue! Based on this treatment which shows that they don't care, as well as the fact that they would serve this poisonous garbage to their paying customers, I will NEVER order from them again. They obviously have no respect for their customers or their community! I am also shocked that they would not even offer a refund but only a discount on a future order. As a former bar/restaurant owner this blows my mind. I would never serve an inferior product to a guest at my restaurant and I have offered a refund or complementary meal for far less than what I have encountered at Double Happiness. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving trash to their community.

Been going to this place for years as it used to be the best Chinese food in Midland. Things have been slipping a bit since the pandemic and they have gone strictly take-out. Last night a group of us ordered well over $170.00 worth of pick-up and some of us were not happy at all. My dish was the Shanghai Noodles, and that was all they were, noodles. I've had this dish many times before and it was always full of tender beef and vegetables in a Szechwan sauce. Not this time. The beef was overcooked and tough and very little of it. The vegetables were onion, onion and onion with ONE slice of water chestnut that must have snuck in when no one was looking. One of our parties Chow Main was tasteless and things were just not up to their usual standards. Their prices have gone up and the quality down and trying to make up with it by adding more of the cheap ingredients like rice and noodles doesn't cut it. I will order one more time from them, and if the meal is as bad as this one, I will take my limited entertainment budget elsewhere.Smarten up people.

This was our first time ordering food here. The food portions are average, and wait time from ordering was about 20 minutes. (Not bad) the flavor of the food in my opinion is a bit bland. The rice and chicken need some more flavor, the broccoli and carrots were great! The chicken balls were way too over battered. They look huge but one bite and then you're into bread and dry chicken.I will dine here again to see if it's just a one off (bad day). I'll repost afterwards.

Spent over 120$ yesterday for dinner for my birthday. Sauce was leaking everywhere out of the containers and specifically paid for extra chicken in the chicken curry with vegetables to have it be 70% veggies. So disappointed.

The food is quite good here- typical Canadian/North American style Chinese food. Their combo meals are great value, and they make some of the best chicken balls! Our only comment is that if they say food is ready in 30 minutes, it may be closer to an hour- just be prepared to wait. Otherwise, all good- staff were nice too!
