Club de Judo Shidokan Inc

By far, one of the best judo clubs in Canada. It's no surprise to show up for an advanced black belt class and find some of the most advanced judoka in the Montreal area and beyond.Nakamura Sensei leads by great example in everyway. He's the trainer of trainers in Canadian judo.

The customer service is poor, after our inscription we did not receive any confirmation for the class and is always close and anybody answer the phone.

I went to this school when I was younger and it changed my life. The teachers are remarkable and love what they are doing and it shows in the performance of its trainees. If it wasn't for my dad and Shidokan dojo I would of never gotten true all the crazy endeavors of my life thank you for that I will never forget it!!!

Lead by the great Nakamura Sensei, this dojo has rich traditional teaching roots. Most winning-est" dojo in Quebec (maybe Canada?!) for years and years - the dojo that gave Quebec it's "Strong House" start. Great group of athletes and a great camaraderie."

I have been a member since 2008. Its not the judo that makes this club so exceptional, it’s the people. From the instructors to the members, everyone is warm and filled with personality. It is such and accepting and open place that welcomes everyone from everywhere. I have made great friends and contacts over the past decade.Also, the judo is amazing, athletic and fun.

Great Judo club with great coaches and students!

Wherever I travel for work or pleasure, I take my judogi to visit dojos and train with the locals. This time I visited Shidokan and was happy to know that sensei Nakamura is part of the panamerican kata commission in which my previous sensei from Brazil is also part of, so they know each other, which makes this place almost like familiar. What impresses me is the judokas who are part of this club, all friendly and ready to help, welcoming everyone. This club is one of the largest I’ve been, with a weighting gym, two changing rooms with showers and lockers.

I joined the Shidokan Judo Club about five years ago after chronic problems with my back. My chiropractor suggested I tried judo to strengthen the back muscles and the core of my body. Within three months, the pain went away, and I've since continued practicing judo with the club. The teachers are incredibly competent, patient and passionate about their students. The atmosphere of the club is one based on friendships and respect. Once in a while, we all hang out at a near pub to relax before the weekend (that's my favourite part of the week!) My only regret is not starting judo at this club earlier in life, but I'm glad it's never too late to start something. As for the building itself, it has pretty much everything needed to practice judo safely (separate locker rooms for men and women, a gym with weights and other fitness equipment, etc.) I could say more, but the best would be to stop reading this, and attend a class for yourself.
