The West End Guest House

The West End Guest House is a really wonderful bed & breakfast in the heart of Vancouver. This was our first time in Vancouver and Paul was such a gracious, wonderful host who spent time sharing the history and vision of the house with us.The house itself was cozy and inviting. We loved the breakfast (with homemade pastries) and the fireplace. The entire staff made our visit perfect with lots of little touches including providing excellent local food recommendations.The house is located within easy walking distance of many attractions and neighborhoods including Stanley Park, the seawall, Robson and more.We will definitely be back

Only leaving a review so long after the fact because we were hoping to visit but know now we won't be doing. This place was the only accommodation we booked that wouldn't refund us when our Canada trip was affected by the Covid pandemic – despite the fact we were unable to visit under Canadian law. They said we'd be able to use our booking at some time in the future instead but gave no guarantee that the price would be the same, and the timeframe was limited. Despite our dismay and extensive correspondence, they stubbornly – and unfairly – held onto our money. It looks like a lovely place but be warned that when things go wrong, their attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

I've stayed at WEGH several times over the past 30 years or so. Each time has been a special experience, and the current owners Paul and David have upheld that tradition. This is a true bed-and-breakfast, with delightful rooms, exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect alternative to big-city hotels, yet it's convenient to great shopping and dining, along with attractions like Stanley Park. While Vancouver's West End has grown and changed over the years, the Guest House remains a quiet oasis amid a bustling and beautiful city.

This place was excellent! I really liked the decor and vibe, and I loved the amazing chandeliers. The rooms had some nice touches including lots of plugs by the bed. The bed and sheets were very comfortable. The neighborhood was centrally located and near lots of things. I was there for the Vancouver Marathon and that worked really well. Also, the staff was really friendly and accommodating. Breakfast felt special with the service and nice linens, and the meals had some interesting flavors. The evening snacks (cakes in my situation, but I understand it can vary) were always really well-made and delicious. Barb made me a separate bag breakfast on the marathon day since I had to get up early, and it was just what I was looking for. Parking was easy, which is a plus in downtown. It's such a welcoming and unique place vs what else you can find in downtown, also fairly priced, definitely recommend and will look for opportunities to go again!

Amazing location, staff, and home. No AC and rooms are not perfect, but it is an old house. We would stay here again, everything was so walkable and easy to get to - and the neighborhood is incredibly safe.

Love, Love, Love, this B&B! West end is located in central down town Vancouver with 5 mins walk to Robson street, and easy short walks in many other directions and attractions in Vancouver. There are many restaurants and cafes within 5-20 mins walk. The breakfast is amazing with daily fresh baked goods, a fruit bowl and a main dish. They will accommodate your dietary needs! The butler's pantry is such a nice touch, where you can always find yummy baked goods, and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. The living and dining rooms are beautifully decorated, warm, and inviting at all hours of the day and a great place to meet and befriend other travelers. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff is amazing, always very attentive and helpful! There are several great outdoor seating areas to enjoy a quiet reading time and beautiful gardens. It is also great to have free parking on the premisses.I will be back!

This is an excellent bed and breakfast located in the West End of Vancouver. Rooms are stylish with lots of character. I stayed in room number three which had a window overlooking the back porch. The property is very well located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Breakfast is served at 8 am during the week and 830 am on the weekends. Staff were very friendly and helpful and assisted me with finding transport to the airport.

Our first stay here but we will definitely return. Amazing location. Easy walking distance to most everything you want to do and see while visiting Vancouver. Friendly staff.

A beautiful guest house, where you’re cared for and looked after. Wonderfully decorated and incredibly comfortable. Will visit again and highly recommend. Maybe a 10 minute walk from the centre of Vancouver.

Overall, a nice experience but a few minor details disabling the full/5* score ;-)First of all, the location and the house are respectively perfect and very beautiful, absolutely awesome, especially decoration & cleanliness!Likewise, our bedroom was very nice but in case of heat wave, the fan & open windows aren't sufficient, even during the night (although the old house likely explains the absence of A/C). The bathroom was a bit small but OK - the mattress on the other hand was way too soft and deep, too bad for us. Finally, breakfast was a bit disappointing, although home-made: a few innovations in some recipes were not so welcome (we will never forget our Italian eggs casserole"
