Blue Bayou Resort is highly recommended! Beautiful Geo domes on an amazing property that sits on the bay. They come with all the needed amenities to make travelling easy. The waterfront resort offers paddle boards and kayaks which was an added bonus! Stephane was a great host, very friendly and offered up some of our best sightseeing spots. We are very happy we found this place for the next time we return!

It's a great experience. This combines the best of camping and renting a cottage. Compared to renting a tent site, you have 0 things to take care of besides your food and personal items. It is as comfortable than a hotel room/rented cottage, but you're straight-up in the woods right outside your door. Kayaking and Canoeing in the Aspy bay is awesome. Great place to stay if you plan on exploring the northern part of the Island. The domes were clean, roomy, comfy, the King bed also had a good mattress. There was more than enough place for a travel crib. Everything felt new. The quilted insulating material of the dome provides a good amount of noise reduction, we were not hearing anything outside. I was impressed with the bathroom/showers inside the dome! The staff was really helpful and friendly, and the location is top-notch.Just a little word of caution: There's not a lot of amenities in the region. Bring your food, coffee, etc. There's also no mini fridge in the domes, so you'll need a cooler. There are some restaurants and a general store nearby, but the hours of opening varies, especially in late seasons. There's was a french press, a kettle and mugs in our room for our morning coffee.TL;DR, really enjoyed our stay, clearly recommend for someone looking to spend an evening by the fire while getting a good night of sleep.

The dome was really cozy and comfortable. Such an enchanting experience to take a pause while sitting aside the lake gazing at the stars, have a fire and connect with the elements with all the amenities of a cabin on our travels through Cape Breton. The weather was perfect and so was our stay.It was great to exchange conversation with the creator & owner of these beautiful customized sleep domes. Would definitely book again!Merci encore!Robyn and Frank

Loved the concept but definitely don't think the price justifies the value when it was more expensive than most of the hotels we booked while travelling the east coast! It is described as a luxury experience, and when comparing it to camping in a tent it absolutely is but I do feel more could be done to make it more luxurious. More pillows in the bed (1 quite lumpy pillow per person), and furniture that is more than just Ikea basics, in my personal opinion would add a lot!It was very hot when we were there but the fans were enough for us to sleep okay.We got a water front, but I wouldn't recommend it as the tents beside us fire pit and table were right in front of our view and because we were so close to the water anyone who walked down to the dock could see right in. So it was either have no privacy or close the curtains and have no view.

We loved our stay here! Staying on the cabot trail I think it's definitely best to get the camping experience, and dome/cabin camping lets you do that even if you flew in and don't have all your gear. Even though our tent wasn't technically 'waterfront' we could see the ocean from our bed. Would definitely recommend. More pros:- Good working heater- ac/ air filter- Kettle and mugs- private fire pit- friendly ownerThere is only one issue - that I'm surprised no one is talking about. Each tent comes with a 3 piece bathroom which is very nice and convenient- but not the most sanitary. There is only a wall (that does not extend all the way up or across) that separates the toilet and the bedroom. It faces the tent wall, which is quilted fabric. Knowing that a lot of people flush with the lid up, those particles are going everywhere and cannot be washed out of the fabrics. Also, the shower floor is flush with the wood flooring so we got water all over the floor despite our best efforts. I really hope they consider adding a door and ceiling to this space to preserve its cleanliness and longevity!

There's no better place to stay in the highlands of Cape Breton. The domes and shacks are incredible and the scenery is out of this world. It's such a great place to come back to after a day of exploring Cape Breton. Can't wait to go back!

Nice and neat domes are like pearls scattering in the woods along the seashore. Very unique camping experience in a dome with a transparent ceiling that you can lie in bed and watch stars at night. 1/3 dome wall is also transparent that you can enjoy the woods or the bay view when having breakfast. Nice place to stay when touring on Cape Breton.

Great location, friendly enough owners. However, I dont think it's great value for money. Our dome was quite warm during the day(there is no AC and the fan provided sucks), there is no mini fridge, and the bedding is very uncomfortable. The domes only have one pillow per person, and they are supersoft. Definitely needed another 2 pillows. Ended up using the towels provided as makeshift pillows.
