Metropolis Alterations

This alterations place is the worst place. They waited till day of pick up to do alterations on my daughters prom dress. My daughter already had so much going on that day and they didn't fix the straps on her dress. She told her to come back in 1 hour. They shortened the bottom layer of the dress but the outer layer which was net was not shortened. Looked horrible in the pictures. Instead of apologizing, the owner was really argumentative and disrespectful. If you have a special event do not go here they will ruin your special day. Still waiting for a refund.

We took our son's grad suit in for alterations and they did a perfect job. We were happy, and our son was beaming that the suit fit him so well. Helen is very accommodating and great to work with, we will definitely take more to her as they come up.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHING HERE unless you are willing to take a risk and have your clothes ruined. The seamstress has no idea what they’re doing and the owner is extremely nonchalant until there is a problem. Took a silk skirt here to be altered (needed the waist to be tighter and the length of the skirt to be shortened) and it’s now RUINED. I wore the skirt as the owner pinned the skirt in the right places to be altered so she knows what it’s supposed to look like. She confirmed everything would be doable. I come back to pick up the skirt and the length was shortened but the waist was HUGE. Basically they shortened the skirt from the top (per my request) and then took in the new waist, which is not the correct way to alter the skirt!! So they apologise and I need to go back again after they try to fix the waist. I go back and they completely changed the design of my skirt. They added darts at the front and back of the skirt, which I did not ask them to do! The owner apologises and says it’s because she was sick and wasn’t there when her seamstress made the alterations. Why would your seamstress NOT be able to do the work unless you’re there to supervise?? I go back again and they took the darts out but now my beautiful silk skirt has needle holes because they had to remove the darts. The owner tries to say the holes are not noticeable. I’ve added pictures so you can see that the holes are EXTREMELY noticeable. Not to mention, they changed the shape of my skirt which used to be straight/a-line! It’s got weird bumps around the hip area AND the back of the skirt is shorter than the front! They also damaged the silk fabric in the process of all the alterations they did on it. Owner would only give me the refund for the alterations and did not pay me damages for the skirt she ruined because I didn’t have the original purchase receipt for the skirt. So now I’m left with a ruined skirt that I hope a talented tailor can save and precious time wasted!

I recently had the pleasure of shortening my denim pants, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The process was quick and easy. The fit is now perfect, and the shortened length with preserved original hem gives jeans a great look.Thank you:)

The people here are so professional and kind, they spent a lot of time per each customer and make sure all their measurements are precise and are meticulous with their work. They ensure each customer is satisfied and that everything is ready on time. I was very happy with every item I have gotten altered, it was done perfectly. The pricing was also very affordable compared to everywhere else. Overall, the store is very clean and convenient, I always have a positive experience there. I recommend it to my young friends, and they all have the same experience as me. Recently I took my daughters prom dress there and I was very happy with the results. I strongly recommend it to the young people who want to alter their prom and wedding dresses.

UPDATE: As expected, this shop will not own up to the terrible job that they did despite showing the pictures. Warning: Inspect the pants before you take them home. If the owner can't even SEE how poor the job turned out, this says a lot about what kind of standards they have.THE WORST HEMMING JOB I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I brought in two jeans and two pants. I asked for the original hem on my $400 Citizens of Humanity jeans - and the stitching was totally uneven and they used a color of thread that didn't match at all. It's unbelievably BAD. I will be calling the manager tomorrow (Helen) to find out if they will refund me as I am leaving for Korea tomorrow. I will post the update so that everyone can see if this place has any integrity and will compensate for such a terrible result.

Thank you so much to the ladies at Metropolis Alteration for taking on my prom dress alterations! They both were extremely attentive and had an eye for detail, you can tell they are very experienced! I loved how my dress came out and how efficient the service was. Will definitely be back in the future !!

I’ve never been more pleased with service in my life! I have taken clothing a night before an event asking if they can fix it in time and always do the job perfectly. Service is amazing, staff is amazing and they value their customers beyond. Helen has saved me many times with last minute alterations!

Came in today for a body measurement. Helen the owner was a joy to work with, as well as Dina. Got the job done fast, and pleasant atmosphere. Thank you so much Helen and Dina! Will be returning for further alterations!
