December 2019-We had Santa from Scheme a Dream visit my grandchildren at their home, and unknown to them. When Santa arrived he was gracious, a very ho ho ho Santa, happy to visit, we immediately liked him; except the children. The toddler did an about face and hid in her room, the older child did an about face and hid in his room. Both for different reasons, one shy and the other well he’s 8 years older. Both had hilarious reactions as we watched how quickly they disappeared.Santa quickly won our hearts with his personality and calmness. The kids gradually came out from hiding. First Santa made friends with the toddler. He talked with her in a kind, patient and soft voice. She responded back to him feeling more comfortable. Santa spent time with her letting her get to know him. He focused only on her. He then gave her a gift that she had wanted, a soccer ball. She was thrilled and you could see her mind processing this information, “how did he know?” Santa had won her over.Next was the older child, who thought he was too old for a visit with Santa, but Santa convinced him to sit on his knee anyway. Again Santa was brilliant, focussing only on him, engaging him in conversation about school, hobbies, homework and just life in general. Santa spoke to him as if he was the only kid in the room, never pushing conversation, only talking to him respectfully. While he thought he was too old for Santa, his reactions and facial expressions were funny, but also allowed him to let go of some of his inhibitions during his visit with Santa. Santa assisted him in this process to feel comfortable. He received a wallet from Santa and Santa even engaged him in conversation about the gift, the brand, all the compartments, so very knowledgeable about the gift and shared this knowledge with my grandson. It was amazing to watch Santa win the children over with his kindness, warm spirit, understanding of their age, patience, communication skills and his natural ability to genuinely like kids.Would I get Santa again? Absolutely!Santa was brilliant!Arranging for Santa too, with Margaret, was very welcoming. She had me at hello. She made me feel like I was her only client. I already had made plans for the family’s next event with Scheme a Dream. They’re wonderful!March 2020, a Princess Birthday! Cinderella arrived on time and my first impression was she was very pretty, kind, and very sweet. All character traits of what we have grown to love about Cinderella.Of course our toddler, a little older now and more worldly, after also being at Disney World, had not gotten past the about face and hide and seek reaction. Her little friend, too, was a little shy but stood his ground with his mom close by his side.Cinderella spoke to the children at the party with a softness in her voice. She read the story of Cinderella to her audience of moms and their children. The children listened intently to the story. Following the story, Cinderella engaged the kids and their moms with glittering tattoos. One of the shy guests was first in line for his tattoo. Cinderellahad won him over. While our very shy birthday girl and and shy guests were a challenge, Cinderella rose above it all and remained happy throughout the party and engaging. Would I do another princess party? Absolutely! We’ll work on the kids’ disappearing reactions though.Thank you Margaret, Scheme a Dream, Santa and Cinderella for these eventful, happy and memorable times in a world in need of good health, safety, and peace for all.
