This clinic is outrageous in their prices. Our dog was very sick on Sunday and because our local vet was not open, we had no other choice but to bring her to VSC. We had to pay $700 up front to have her looked at, then another $675 for diagnostic tests. The tests revealed an infection that required surgery. We were then given an estimate of $6,500 to $10,200 in addition to the $1,375 we had already paid. We told the vet that we would not pay that much and we would have to have our dog euthanized. The vet then told us that we had the option of taking our dog home with meds, against medical advice, or we could leave her at the hospital overnight on IV antibiotics until we could consult with our local vet the next day. We chose to leave her at the hospital overnight on the IV antibiotics which cost an additional $1,000. We then took our dog to our local vet on Monday where she had her surgery, spent the night in their care and the total cost was $1,380. We are devastated to think that we almost had our dog euthanized, then to find out that our local vet could perform the same surgery for $1380! Overall, we paid VSC nearly $2,400 for an x-ray, bloodwork and one night stay on IV antibiotics. We appreciate that VSC is a 24/7 medical centre and we anticipated their prices would be higher than local vet clinics, but a difference of their estimated $6,500 to $10,200 to the actual $1,380 is absolutely ridiculous!

I just took my cat, Panda, here for emergency pet care for a minor flesh wound. All of the employees were very professional and compassionate towards me. Panda was in for approximately 16 hours. Although I was stressed to have my pet in an emergency, I felt comforted that he was safe at VSC. If I am remembering her name correctly, Mona worked the night shift and answered my calls about Panda. I called approximately every 1-2 hours to inquire about him. She even texted me photos of him to ease my nerves. I appreciate this act of kindness very much. For anyone who is upset with wait times, please keep in mind that this is an animal HOSPITAL. I did not realize this until now. They triage the patients (pets) by severity of condition. Although Panda’s injury was critical to ME, his visit involved a longer wait time because compared to other pets he was a lower priority. The staff will do everything they can to comfort you during this wait time. Also, this visit to the vet may cost a lot of money compared to our personal health care costs or our vet clinic visits. This is unfortunate for the stressed out pet owner, but it is expensive to run a 24/7 emergency animal hospital. I do not believe they take any joy in telling you your visit will be $1000 or more. I believe that if they could do this all for free, they truly would. It is just not possible.

I cannot speak highly enough of this world class facility and its expert staff. We recently brought in our beagle who was experiencing a bunch of seemingly unrelated ailments after an initial (correct) diagnosis of pancreatitis and pneumonia from our regular (and excellent) vet. When the antibiotics stopped working it was clear she needed a deeper look. 14 years ago when faced with a similar issue we had no option but to go out of province—the equipment just didn’t exist here. PEI or Ottawa were our only options. Thankfully we now have the kind of facility they have in other Canadian cities. The emergency vet recommended some tests and discouraged many others. For the record we have insurance so all those tests would be covered, but she did not think it was worth the risk or expense for the MRI or CT (among others). We really appreciated that she was committed to finding out what was going on but ALWAYS put our little Leila first. The news wasn’t good. Aggressive cancer and almost total lung collapse. Every pet owner knows the hardest thing we have to do is make that final decision. And we always worry it’s too soon. Dr. Rogers helped us every step of the way and while our hearts broke we felt certain of our decision. The clinic staff, techs, and assistants took such good care of our girl and we could see first hand how she trusted them with her looks and wags whenever they came to work with her.I sincerely hope those who are frustrated or angry at how expensive vet care can be understand that 15 years ago it was completely inaccessible. Losing a pet is so hard. Every vet doctor and veterinary staff member is an animal lover. And we’re so grateful to have such a world class facility here.

Professional, thorough and compassionate. Dr. Bulfon was particularly knowledgeable and friendly which was much appreciated given the stressful circumstances for presenting. Also noteworthy: the incredible admin staff who not only cared for my pet with kindness, but handled highly traumatic situations with grace and dignity towards patients. I can only imagine all that they are exposed to on a daily basis. Thank you all so much !

This place was super kind and warm and welcoming when I walked through the doors. I brought my bunny Ollie in to get checked out he was hardly drinking any water after Post-Surgery. The nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing they took good care of Ollie, and they gave me options best treat him, they also went to go check up on Ollie when I wanted them to. Such a warming place for an unexpected vet visit they know how to help patients and help make our animals well thank you for all that you do, the world is a better place because of you.Megan

The staff and owners at the VSC are some of the most caring, compassionate, and wonderful people I’ve ever met. Dr. Bailey and her team have been so great to my beloved animals and myself during some difficult and stressful times. My dog (who is dog reactive so extra stressful!) had to stay over night at the clinic after surgery and although we missed him at home, we knew he was in very good hands. We received a photo of him, which is such a thoughtful thing to offer. The VSC and Dr Bailey have gone above and beyond for us, I cannot thank her enough.

If you can at all help it never bring your pets here. Single handedly the coldest, most inhumane, and unprofessional vet I have ever visited. Then on top of that you have to pay at minimum double the typical cost just to get them in the door.If you're low income know that you're basically coming here to put your pet down, and that will also cost you way more than it does everywhere else.If they respond at all to this post it's going to be the same thing they say to every poor review As you know we staff 24/7 so our prices reflect that cost".Your prices reflect a monopoly and your behavior reflects your apathy."

My little Chihuahua Tintin unfortunately ruptured his cruciate ligament which needed surgical repair. The staff at VSC have been caring and thoughtful towards Tintin and I have found it to be a great hospital with highly trained staff members. They are very easy to book with and they were able to fit us into their surgical schedule quickly. Post surgery they have even provided 3 complimentary rehabilitation sessions which was so wonderful to hear and highly appreciated as it’s not covered by my insurance. Thank you so much from myself and from Tintin.

I brang my dying hamster in to get put down… it came to $277 to get him looked at and then another $500-$600 to get him put down. I asked for him back and a refund and they told me they already euthanized him.. I obviously got upset as I was told I will see him again and be with him when he gets the needle. They then told me he was alive after I caused a fuss. I’m already going through my hamsters death and they do this to me. Extremely upset. Not professional and rude employees. Who would tell someone they euthanized their pet when they never. And when I was told that I would be present when that happens.unbelievable.
