Freestyle Dojo has been an excellent place to learn No Gi Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing for me.The instructors are down to earth and helpful, the facilities are clean and there’s a supportive and welcoming community of other students of all levels there.I highly recommend Freestyle Dojo for any guys or gals looking to improve themselves mentally and physically. It’s worth every penny.

Damn this place is god sent.None of the pretentious uptight vibes, come in at any experience level and be treated like an equal. Coach Mike will poke fun at your bad forward roll but you want coaches who can joke and keep it real while doing some badass jiujitsu anyway.Join the morning clan with coach Jesse as we (yes i am part of the morning clan) rip through the multi-faceted multiverse of no-gi jiujitsu with a passion. Standing, ground, not even the dark arts of legs locking will be spared from our exposure. Our coaches are jiujitsu connoisseurs still hitting flying armbars, you'll be in good hands to: actually learn and experience jiujitsu. They have an open door policy for you to come and try a free class, you'll see for yourself that they are the real deal.Come in, look at the tropical colours on the walls, channel your inner raggae grappler/striker, it's always a good time at freestyle dojo. Better still, awesome pizza joint runs just below the dojo; bars, bistros and brewery all on the same street for your post battle recovery. See you on the mats :)

I have been coming to Freestyle Dojo for over a year. The coaches, Mike and Jesse, have built a very inclusive, friendly, non-stuff environment where people of all skill and fitness level can come to learn and train no-gi jiujitsu, kickboxing and yoga. their teaching style are very attentive and friendly. most importantly, they take safety very seriously and are always watching the students to ensure proper movements, and to not put their bodies in any risky positions. 100% if you're an experienced grappler or someone that wants to try the sport out, Freestyle dojo is the place to be!

I think I'm a bit of an oddball when it comes to martial arts. I was not drawn to martial arts from an overwhelming passion or enthusiasm or interest for it, the way most ppl you meet at gyms are. I just believe it's an important skill to learn. I began this journey in my early 30's with the goal to have a general understanding of concepts, tactics, and acquire useful techniques within 3-4 years (like a diploma). That was my goal. Finding a jiu jitsu gym that is suitable for you can take awhile. I've experienced many different types of gyms, and this is the one that I appreciate the most. The community is diverse, all ages, ethnicities, levels of experience, and everyone is helpful to one another. I believe this is a reflection of the instructors and what the gym owners hope to create: an inclusive, safe environment for anyone to learn an important skill. I've seen the traditional, disciplinarian, militant, fighting side of martial arts, but here, I'm learning that martial arts can be fun and communal, as well.

I do drop-ins from time to time and one class I attended was focused on escapes from back control. To this day my back control defence is almost entirely from that class. The level of instruction from Jesse and Mike was clear and digestible and I'm still surprised how much I get out of each time I visit.Highly reccomend.

Starting a martial art and walking into a gym or dojo can be extremely intimidating. From the moment you step into Freestyle, the students are welcoming and always help new members feel comfortable and safe. Freestyle does not subscribe to the rigid formalities of traditional gyms, instead, the culture of this gym is about having fun and sharing knowledge and skills. Whether you've never stepped on a mat or you are an ADCC Champion, you'll benefit from the classes and the rolls. Head coach Mike is extremely knowledgable and his passion is contagious!

Did a trial week here, the place is clean, people are nice and respectful. Jesse is very patient, and professional. He explains concepts really well and break down the steps for you. Jujitsu is technical so a good teacher is very essential. They are very nice and inclusive to beginners as well. Would recommend if you are curious.

No gi Brazilian jiujitsu gym. Run by two brothers who have a very relaxed attitude but don’t let that fool you they are top level. Open door policy for most non members, last few times I have been it’s been growing. Located in Geary neighborhood, its also becoming a big destination for food and bars.

If you’re looking to join a gym, this is the place to be! Mike and Jesse are amazing instructors that will provide you with elite level coaching. Every time I drop by, I get surprised by how many new things I learn from positions I thought I understood well. Their ability to explain complicated movements in a way that seems so simple is second to none. Pair that with the amazing atmosphere they strive to create, and you have one of the best gyms in the GTA!

I've had the pleasure to learn nogi from Mike for several years. I highly recommend this place as it is extremely clean (bathroom, showers, mats), the instructors are knowledgeable, welcoming and good teachers.
