Top quality materials (roll shutters made in Germany), and Tom was great to work with. Prior to the roll shutters, we just had internal shades made of the triple honeycomb material. Great to hold in winter heat, but when I tested it with a infrared thermometer from Canadian Tire, the inside of the shade (for the west window) was a full 8 degrees C warmer than an internal wall. You could feel the heat coming in as you walked past. But after the roll shutters were installed, the heat differential was only 1 degree C. It made a huge difference in the house's comfort. We also specified that the roll shutter channels and boxes be powder coated to match the color of our existing siding, and I think they look great. Even if we decide to get a/c installed at some time in the future, the shutters will mean that the electricity bills will be greatly reduced. (We also have a fan set up in our attic hatch, which pulls air through the house all during the night, so that helps immensely, also.)

This is a few years late, but that is how great this company is! I have had my shutters for almost three years now and still absolutely love them and had to share my experience. My dad and I also own local businesses so we appreciate supporting other great local people. This amazing husband and wife duo will custom make the best shutters you could ever hope for! I want to thank Tom Thompson for another perfect job completed on time and on budget. We are currently renovating our country home and had Shutter Works do all the shutters for each window. This is no easy task in a 45 year old log home. Tom was able to create his magic and we are so impressed with the finished product. I engaged Tom at The Shutter Works for a set of roll shutter for my bussiness (007airsoft.com). He was able to come out right away to meet with me discussing the services that they offer, to show me the different shutters they can provide and to recommend me what fits my needs the most. He was able to give me a quote within the next business day and with a 50% deposit, he ordered all the materials for me within days of our first contact.Here comes the best part. After the materials arrived, he came in on the same day to start the installation work. Unfortunately the installation turned out to be extra chanllenging due to a manufacturer mix up. But Tom and his wife went at it for an entire day, then came back the next day, to finish the first part of the job. When Tom straightened out the problem with his supplier , he booked an electrician to come out finishing the 2nd part of the job. Then he came out one more time to make sure the shims and finishes wre perfect and to reinforce head box!I couldn't be more happy with The Shutter Works service, and I recommend anybody looking for security shutters to give Tom a call!

Wasn't sure what to expect, but The Shutter Works turned out to be a very reasonable and reliable company to do business with.

Professional, honest and perfection!

Tom is an artist - that's the best way to describe his work. I had him make some shutters for my living room 20 years ago (which still look fantastic!), and I finally got around to doing shutters in a couple of my bedrooms. I wish I had done this sooner - they make such a difference to the space! Much nicer than curtains or regular venetian blinds like I had before. Tom is great to work with, and he's meticulous in his work. Any time that you might have to wait is well worth it! As I replace windows in my house, I will be having him do shutters for them as well. Highly recommended!!
