Spirit Bear Lodge
The lodge is very cosy; the food super delicious; the staff very friendly; the guides are fantastic. I had the best of care while out on hikes and getting in and out of zodiacs. At 83 I expected to have some difficulties, but help was always at hand. The experiences of being immersed in the primal forests and observing the wildlife were truly wonderful. I have memories that I can recall forever.

Spirit Bear Lodge
It’s been almost a year since I visited Spirit Bear Lodge and since then I’ve struggled to find the words to write this review. I suppose I should start by saying it was the best holiday ever—but it was more than that.In your time with the team at Spirit Bear Lodge you can expect to see 19 bald eagles soaring the skies on your first day, become as accustomed to spotting seals as you are to neighbourhood dogs, and be fortunate enough that the first ‘black’ bear you ever encounter in the wild happens to be a spirit bear. And spirit seems to be the ideal word to use when describing this adventure because without wanting to wax too lyrical, the entire experience was, well, pretty spiritual. I’d dreamt of going to the Great Bear since I was a little girl, of seeing bear catch salmon in their natural environment and of perhaps encountering a creamy white Kermode bear. I was able to do everything I imagined and a whole lot more. In fact we still talk about running away to live at Spirit Bear Lodge daily.Spirit Bear Lodge is a place where you are woken, not by the obnoxious beeping of your alarm clock but by the sounds of a whale breaching outside your window—before beginning your morning with Tim and his incredible team of experienced staff. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and kindness means every day is a pleasure, even without all the amazing things they allow you to experience. This ranges from making you feel completely at ease in the presence of a grizzly to taking your shirt home to wash when it manages to fall in bear scat (true and messy story). While they continuously strived to make our time as wonderful as possible, my favourite thing about the team was that their first priority was the forest and everything that lived within it. The bears allowed us into their world, more intimately than I could have hoped and it was our job to respect this privilege. Some of the best memories we made were in and around the lodge itself, which by the way is a slice of luxury in an already unimaginable paradise—expect to be fed amazingly well! The community of Klemtu was one of the most welcoming you’ll ever be lucky enough to meet and we were honoured to be invited to the Big House to listen to stories and songs as well as watch (and participate) in traditional dancing. Even evenings around the lodge were fun filled, jumping in the back of Tim’s ute to catch a glimpse of the coastal wolf who loped in the forest at the edge of town or running around the craggy coast line with kids from the Súa Performance Group to spy the real blackfish that inspired the carvings on the village’s Totem poles. In the Great Bear we were able to see first hand the difference between a culture who saw Earth’s riches for their true value and not only for what they were worth to the highest bidder. We were able to witness what the world would be like if we lived alongside and respectfully with nature. And this last was the most invaluable thing I took away from my time at Spirit Bear Lodge. It cemented everything I had always thought, but seeing is truly believing. Expect this untamed wilderness to change your life.

Can't say enough about how amazing Spirit Bear Lodge was. Some of the friendliest staff that I've had the opportunity to connect with and the lodge setting was spectacular. Our first day out we were greeted by young male grizzly. To end the day we were fortunate enough to see an amazing spirit bear.Would highly recommend spending a few days here!

Of more than 30 adventure vacations this was among the most remarkable. Guides, food, accommodations, scenery and entire experience was spectacular. Our 6 day trip exceeded our expectations in every way. We have traveled extensively through Canada, US and Europe and nowhere did we have a better time then we did with Spirit Bear Lodge. Tim, Philip, Jack, Moose, Louie, Clia and all the staff and guides were thoughtful, experienced, and made the trip wonderful. To be close to the incredibly elusive and rare Spirit Bear is a spiritual type encounter you will never forget. Our group took over 6,000 pictures and hours of videos. Eagles, black bears, grizzly bears, humpback whales, sea otters, harbor seals and most importantly the white black bear known by the First Nations as the Spirit Bear and more were all there to be seen and remembered. If you are making your first or last trip make Spirit Bear the one you do.Cliff Gionet
