Midtown Judo Kiyomizukan

Sensei Koglin is probably the best coach we ever had. He is a transformational teacher who has mastered not only Judo, but also how to get the best out of people who train with him. His classes have clarity of purpose and are geared around progressively building Judo skills, physical conditioning, and mental wellness. He leads by example, with a humble, kind-hearted and optimistic approach to daily challenges. On a personal side, our family was about to give up on Judo, after having trained with some not-so-good camps around town when we met Sensei Koglin. Now, both of our kids believe they can go to the Olympics! MidTown Judo Kiyomizukan is the best-hidden diamond in the Judo world in Toronto and whatever is your goal, I would highly recommend taking a few trial classes there.

I've been attending classes here for approximately 2 months, and I'm very pleased thus far with the quality of the training I've received. Sensei Rick's skill and knowledge is very apparent and shines through in his kind demeanor; his judo speaks for itself. It is very easy to stay motivated to improve under his tutelage. The training is very well rounded and I feel like I've learned something new each class. I've practiced martial arts for many years prior to my starting here, but had become somewhat disillusioned by poorly run schools. My passion has reignited now that I've begun learning judo here. I can't recommend this school enough.

Highly recommend to any parents who would like their kids to have exposure to grappling. Have been taking our kids here for a while. Really well structured class for kids and teens. A lot of grappling specific conditioning, foot work, speed work, technical drills and positional sparring disguised as games. A lot of training volume for a 75 mins class. Kids would definitely build great foundation for grappling here regardless whether they want to do judo or other type of grappling in the future.

Midtown is a great judo club with an extremely competent instructor who is both engaging and very knowledgeable. The club perfectly balances a family friendly setting with good hard workouts and promotes a great atmosphere catering to various fitness and skill levels, from white to black belt and beyond.

Excellent judo club. Rick is a fantastic Sensei who is knowledgeable and coaches well. There are many levels of athletes here which makes it a great place to improve.

My daughter trained with Rick Sensei for ~10 years. I also trained with him for ~4 years. He is the best martial arts instructor I encountered to date in the Toronto area - out of the few clubs where I trained over the past 30 years or so. He has a special talent to keep small kids involved and to get them to love the sport.

Probably one of the best club in GTA . If your new to martial arts I would recommend Coming here. Sensai Rick is a great instructor. I am grateful I choose this club start with. Sensei Rick is the best teacher of judo I have ever come across in my 15 years practising the sport. At Midtown Judo, he maintains his high quality of teaching while creating a welcoming environment for all skill levels.

Sensei Yukio is awesome! The kinder judo is a great class for the kids and they all have so much fun.

Rick Sensei recently moved from Budokai Judo Club to Midtown Judo Kiyomizukan where I followed him as he is the most humble, kind, and gentle teacher I have witnessed not to mention his absolutely killer ashi-nage waza combos. Would recommend to anyone new or experienced to try out a couple of classes so you can experience this beautiful place for yourself!
