La Selva restaurant mexicain
This was our first time coming back to La Selva since October 2022 and had come twice before then. We absolutely loved this place the first times eating there. In the past, the tacos de asada were certainly the best we had ever had in Montreal. We also really appreciated the great service from the owner when he was present. In comparison, we were truly disappointed last night when we realized how much the menu had changed since and the huge drop in quality of the food. The asada was dry and lacked flavour, and the toppings like caramelized onions just did not pair well at all. The portions were also significantly smaller, which we could understand if the quality of the food hadn't diminished so much. The service as well was not great, which felt like such a contrast from the last times we visited and were served by the owner. I am sure there are reasons for the changes in the menu, but we for one would love to come back for the great food we had our first few times visiting the restaurant but we will sadly not be returning if these new changes are maintained.

This is an excellent hidden gem. I spent a very romantic Valentine’s Day dinner here. The restaurant feels intimate, charming, and bubbling with conversation. The food was excellent authentic Mexican. We loved the octopus and tacos. Cocktails were also great!

Great little place on the heart of the plateau! The food is fantastic. Very original tastes and definitely food is like homemade. The place lets you bring your own wine and the service is great. Recommended for a romantic dinner or going out with friends or even family. Simple menue but with lots of favour. I would definitely come back! Great experience and the ambiance is fabulous!

You could find this hidden gem in the small corner of Plateau.Best tacos and margarita in town hands down! Great service from Maria. Good luck to chef Gustavo and his new team.

Great Mexican restaurant! I tried the rib taco's based on the server's recommendation and they were fantastic. Must try! The vegetarian tacos are also excellent.

My wife and I came here for our early valentines dinner. Amazing experience. Service was exceptional along with the food. The owner even prepared a new dish for us to taste. Will be back for sure.

I came here for an event and got to try a tasting menu.Overall, I really enjoyed the food. My favorites were the tacos and the ceviche was to die for. If you come here, you HAVE to try their foie gras mayo, I can't even describe how good it was. The soup was okay, but I'm very picky with my soupsThe portions seemed a little small, but this is understandable because it was an event. It is also a BYOB which is a plus.I would very much like to back here to try their regular menu. Once I do, I will definitely edit my comment and recommendations.
