Ice Nail Bar

I went there for a full set of gel nails. She told me before i got there that it was 55 dollars and then it was 65 dollars when i arrived. I went ahead anyways. The lady did my nails while talking to her co workers in her language. None of them engaged in conversation with me which made my experience very uncomfortable. She finished my nails and i gave her a generous tip. Less than 2 weeks later my nails started falling off. When i came back and let her know what happened she then told me that i do not have very good nails to work with which she hadnt bothered to tell me before i paid her of course. She then told me she would use acrylic to fix the nails that had fallen off. Again didnt tell me anything in the beginning because gel nails are more expensive of course. I then left and the next day the rest of my gel nails fell off. I have taken pictures of my nails as she ruined them and they are actually indented because she used nothing but the dremol the whole time. She cut into my actual nail bed when she was dremoling and then put the fake nail on. She talked over me and made suggestions when i was telling what i would like. This place is horrible customer service is horrible it is not clean. They charge big money for ruining peoples nails. Before this asian lady took over the shop i had 2 experiences that were wonderful. Very disappointed in these new owners. I will never recommend this shop to anyone. Please go to the nail lounge on Bowen Road they are terrific !

Very poor experience at this place. Had a gel manicure five days ago, and it is already chipping (I haven’t done anything rough with my hands). The nails have bubbles and bumps - the clinician was rushed and unpleasant… rude, in fact. Very bad experience, terrible manicure (did hardly any cuticle work!) and definitely do not recommend.

Ice Nails is first class service and not overpriced like the rest of Nanaimo. Huge variety of services. Ask for Honey. She will take care of you.

In January 2021, I came into ice nail bar to get my nails done. I am a heavy nail biter and I needed some assistance to cover my nails. I booked a acrylic nail service and went into the salon. First off I want to note I am a certified nail technician, graduated in 2017. They proceeded to file my nails with a file that had been used before on someone else. The nails I received were NOTHING like the picture the nail tech kept referencing too. I left the salon in tears. I contacted another much cleaner salon who used a new file and we brought as much of Ice Nail Bars product down without hurting my nailbeds as they were damaged due to bitting which is why I needed professional help to begin with. Then we did a fill on the tips that ice nail bar had glued on (improperly).I had to go in for a fill 2 weeks after this at the new salon due to how my nail beds were. Continuing on with fills, I have had 3 since my initial service with Ice Nail Bar, which means that the product they original put on and the tips they glued to my finger nails are still under the new salons work. At my last fill, we had to take two of the nails completely off as we noticed discoloration. Due to the improper way that The Ice Nail Bar applied the original nails water was able to get trapped in between my nail bed and the false nails, causing mold/fungus to grow. Today March 18th, I addressed this issue with the ice nail bar only to be met with yelling, told I don't know what I am talking about and then slandering me inside the salon when I went in for them to actually address what they have done to my natural nails.With absolutely no resolution I am at a loss with this salon. The lack of professionalism, cleanliness, following health protocol for spa industry and customer service is appauling.I highly recommend that no one goes to this salon and gets treated this way.

I can’t comment on their services but I can caution you to watch the numbers at the till. I purchased a gift card for a friend, and the lady took my card and tapped the interact pin pad before showing me the amount after I specifically said I don’t want to tap. She said “it’s ok” and tapped it anyway before showing me the amount in the screen. When I asked her to please reverse charges because my cards tap feature is for a different account than what I wanted the money to come out of, she said she didn’t know how to use the machine so she could not. I went to leave and when in my car examined the receipt and instead of $50 I was charged $60. I went inside and said I was over charged she said “i give you cash” and went to the till and gave me $10 without me even mentioning the exact amount I was overcharged. If it was an innocent mistake it sure doesn’t look that way.

Believe the other reviews and DO NOT go here! We booked in for 3 manicures (2 gel, one regular) on a Saturday morning. In summary: they only had two techs working so one person had to wait, the two gel manicures were totally rushed and many corrections had to be made during them (hair in the gel, bumps, bubbles, etc) and many issues still remain after, the non gel manicure took an HOUR and 15 mins, and partway through all the polish had to be removed to start again because the tech was doing it so poorly. When we went to pay, the woman initially refused to give us a discount saying that she already charges less than other places (not accurate). Eventually we got $15 off the entire bill, but that is nowhere near satisfactory. Literally worst manicure I’ve ever had.

My pedicure looks like my 8 year old niece did it, and my gel manicure is spotty and they didn't cover the entire nail on several fingers. I would not recommend this place or go back.

Myself and my three daughters have had services done and it was great. Pedicure chairs massage you as you as you receive your pedicure and great selection of colors. My acrylic set was great and I have been back a few times. Honey is sweet and very professional.
