I brought my two fur babies here at the end of February. My 1.5 year old cat was experiencing weight loss, vomiting, fatigue, alopecia and acting out of character. I explained this to the vet and his diagnosis was “Ringworm”, even though he had all these other symptoms going on, he summarized it as a rash. Not only was he sick, they went on to administer his vaccines, even though he was unwell. My fur baby passed away last week. He ended up in the emergency last Tuesday night and passed on Wednesday. He was not only misdiagnosed, but the dr actually giggled when I said he was losing weight and I was worried. He told me I didn’t need to worry about that.I also brought in my 4 month old kitten because he had discharge coming from his eye since the day I brought him home. He was also sneezing, shaking his head & had ear mites. He was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. I was told the infection would clear on its own and didn’t require treatment, but we would treat the eye for possible chlamydia infection & treat the ear mites. He also had a “Ringworm” infection. They did not offer blood work or any other diagnostics to rule out the scary stuff. He has been on this treatment for a month with no improvement. I brought him to another vet this week, he was at risk for pneumonia and his respiratory infection had worsened. We also completed blood work to rule out FIV and leukaemia. He is now on oral antibiotics, antibiotic eye drops and has had treatment for his ears. The other vet also said it is not safe to give vaccines when the animal is unwell, so I’m wondering why this vet at Rivers went ahead and gave my baby his vaccines when he was so sick. I would never bring my fur babies back to a place like this. Vets who misdiagnose & provide unsafe care.

Every one there is kind and thoughtful, the vet Dr Scammell and Laurie in particular have always been thoughtful and considerate of my pets needs.

I just lost my dear cat Trista after being with her for 20 years. No words can describe how amazing Dr. Scammell and his team were. They were all very kind and told me to take as much time as I needed with her. Even though I know it interrupted their clinic as Dr. Scammell only has one clinic room. I was also allowed to be with her through the whole procedure which was very important to me and some vets don't allow.I've found Dr. Scammell to be a great diagnostic clinician and he has been very good with my animals. I can tell they feel very comfortable with him.One time I was leaving his clinic at the same time as another woman, and we stood outside the clinic on the sidewalk and talked about how great Dr. Scammell is for 20 minutes.I'm so happy that I've found this clinic as my animals are very important to me. And would definitely recommend it to others.

The service we received from Dr. Scammell and the team at Rivers Animal Hospital was great!My mom's cat, Peewee, was having issues with eating and appeared to have pain around his mouth. We were able to get in for assessment within a few days. Dr. Scammell was able to quickly diagnose the problem and recommend dental surgery. He explained the issue and was able to schedule us in the following week despite it being in the middle of holiday season.We were nervous about the surgery and the cost but after the surgery we ended up paying less than the lowest price in the range that we were given. Which helped a lot with the holidays too. Peewee has been great since the procedure. He was eating better and more playful the evening of the surgery. He's a happy kitty again like the clinic said!Thank you to the team at Rivers Animal Hospital!

Vet was in a rush to leave, didn’t want to help my dog, told me he didn’t like the way my 8 month old puppy was “eyeing” him, tried once to put a muzzle on, my dog was afraid and turned away so he gave up and said “let’s do this another day I have to get out of here” I said please help him now as I am worried and he is sick. He kept saying let’s hurry this up, didn’t provide much of a solution and did not answer any of my questions because he was in such a rush

Our dog has issues with his ears and often gets ear infections. We were at the lake and couldn't get back into the city so we called to get our normal meds filled and then faxed to a vet close to us.They said since we had not been there for over a year we had to come in to see the vet.(It was one year and 6 days since we last saw the vet!)We were frustrated that this policy was so strictly enforced. It felt like they did not care enough or trust that we knew what was going on with our dog.It felt like a complete money scam...sure, you missed it by 6 days...come on in and let the vet touch the dog...pay the $100 touch fee and get the same meds as before!So frustrating.

Dr Scammell treats my pets and he is very knowledgeable and caring towards them. He treats each of his patients as if they were his own. A great place to go if needing a vet

Locked up like Fort Knox. Pandemic restrictions are lifted and yet the lady opens the door 3 inches and says, you need to call ahead. Good byeGood bye is right. Never to return or recommend.

Visited them a few times. Were able to help me out with my cat and his dental issues. Fairly reasonably priced, also the vet seems quite knowledgeable and seems to car about my cats needs.
