I’ve worked in finances for many years and recently made a career change which is why I brought my GST cheque into this location to be cashed. Right on the back of any government cheque they state it can be cashed with ID at any financial institution. The licensing on the walls inside this location defines them as a financial institution. However, Right away the employee told me that they needed to verify the funds - which isn’t necessary with a government cheque as the funds are guaranteed. The associate took me through many hoops before telling me that they can’t accept my GST cheque because it was a replacement. Meaning, the government sent me a previous payment that was not received, so they re-sent it. The government wouldn’t issue a replacement if I had already received funds. At the time that we were told this, knowing it wasn’t actually correct, as we just cashed his GST cheque at this location a week prior, my fiancé said “you know I used to really like you guys” (referring to the company) “but I know when I’m being lied to,” at which point, another associate came flying out of nowhere berating him and accusing him of being verbally abusive to the associate helping us. He holds a line of credit with you, and has used your services many times and always paid early. We’ve been great customers. We walked out of this location and went to the next closest one and had the cheque cashed with zero issues. It’s government. It’s guaranteed funds. I physically cannot fake a government cheque.

According to my experience today, I do not recommend dealing with Cash Money because it is not good. I went to receive the money transfer and there were two female employees who told me there was no money in the store. I told them that they can deposit the transfer into my account, but they said they could not do that, so I knew that they did not want to provide a service. I do not know the reason for that. I only go to them because they are close to my house, but I was shocked by that, so I advise the people of Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam to go with Cash Mart. I went to them and the transactions were completed instantly and with high confidence.
