Family Dog Rescue

We could not be more pleased with our experience at Family Dog Rescue. Would give 10 stars if we could. The staff was extraordinarily knowledgeable, patient, and supportive, especially Marisa who helped us every step of the way through our adoption process. We will be recommending Family Dog Rescue to all our friends and get excited whenever we meet FDR dogs out on walks. We say we hit the dog jackpot with our sweet girl, but in reality FDR team matched us with exactly what we were hoping for, and for that we’re eternally grateful.

This place is great. Lots of dogs. Amazing staff/volunteers. Was not looking to adopt a puppy, but my kids fell in love with him... Our cat on the other hand... Well as you can see she is tolerating him thus far.

This is where I met my new beloved malamute companion and I couldn't be happier about the whole experience of connecting with the staff and adopting. Working at a shelter cannot be easy work - physically or emotionally - and the crew at FDR have all my appreciation for being so dedicated, caring, wise. A gem of a place that is saving lives every day (dog lives and human lives, we need each other, eh?) tucked into an industrial neighborhood in SF alongside the highway. Who knew?! Now you do. Spread the word. There are so many dogs just waiting for a new home and family!

I adopted my new pup from them. A very thorough interview, they really cared about my pup. With the fee you pay, they neuter and provide all the shots. They were very protective of their pets to go to a good fit which I appreciate.

So much better than the pound! They sat us down on a couch in a room and brought us a sweet, adorable puppy that matched what we said we were looking for on our application.They talked to us for a few minutes and then gave us space, checking back every 5 minutes or so. We fell in love with the first one but let them bring us another to help us be sure in our decision. I think they would have continued all day.Outside all the grown dogs are in a yard together so you can watch how they are with their friends, and see if any bond with you over the fence.The staff is awesome. They are kind, patient and knowledgeable.The space is clean and they were cautious to have us sanitize before handling the puppies because they hadnt received their final shots yet.There is parking.We went home the same day with the sweetest little girl. They gave us enough of her meds to finish her worming and kennel cough.She hated the 45 minute drive home but didnt cry. She just hid her head in my wife's armpit. Last night she settled in after some loneliness and slept most of the night. We took the rescue staffs advice (sorry I am awful with names but it started with an M) and she slept in her pen in our bedroom with us.We got up when she had a bad dream and when the sun came up. But she went back to sleep after a little time outside and some comforting.She is a puppy, and she needs attention, but she is soooo worth it.She is sleeping next to me in her bed now.I highly recommend Family Dog Rescue!

I worked here for a short period of time but I also got my precious amazing son Sebastian here, and have met so many other people who have gotten their dogs from FDR that they love so much. I love anywhere that wants to help save dogs, and Sebastian is the best dog in the entire world. Think about FDR often and just wanted to leave this review.

Absolutely love this rescue! They have the best staff and volunteers and the founder I cant even say enough about! They get everydog they have adopted and they always know so much about them before they place them in the right homes! Would recommend for everyone looking for a new family member.

Staff was so friendly and, even though they were incredibly busy, they attentively helped us choose the right match for us, answered our many questions, and gave us important advice. We love our little cutie pie!
