Halliday's Meat Market

A local gem. The steaks from here are of the highest quality I can find in the city. Sobeys/dominion doesn't even compare. Sure it may be a couple bucks more but trust me you get what you pay for. Support local!

Can't say I'm a fan. I've heard people rant and rave about this place and I have been wanting to support this local business since I moved here. Perhaps they were on the verge of closing and this is why, not sure but I walked in and staff first, seemed bothered. I guess I walked in the wrong door except neither door says staff or please use front door. Then one of the guys was picking his teeth while talking to me. They didn't have what I was looking for so tried to sell me something else telling me it's all the same. Just there, in that second, my gut told me to walk away and I wanted to leave. But I thought support local business. BUT what I wanted to say to him is No it's not the same. It's not the same if I am looking for something specific because of a prior reaction to what he was suggesting. His tone was abrupt. Really they just seem like they couldn't be bothered. I've had more kindness from the gentlemen at Sobeys, so that's where I will be shopping from here on in. At Sobeys. Not here.

I can't understand how the score for Halidays is only 4.7.. This is a solid 5 star meat market and I'd score it higher if I could. Top Quality meat and cut the way you want it right in front of you everytime. I'd eat steaks from there everyday if I could afford too.

Got some amazing puddings that were absolutely delicious.

The staff and butchers are fantastic friendly and accomodating. Went in Monday ordered fresh sausages and white puddings, nl speciality. Highly recommend as I have not found these anywhere else in the world.They said when they make them Wednesday they would freeze them for pick up friday 3pm. We all laughed as I did good arriving 3:07pm picking up 17 lbs frozen solid put in a green garbage bag . I popped it in my checked luggage and arrived home 10:30 pm still frosty.You must try them@

I wanted to try making some biscuits and gravy for my dad who had never had it. My sister gave them a call to see if they might have some pork sausage that would work and they offered to put some aside in the morning instead of putting it into casings. It worked perfectly! If you're looking for a sausage to try for biscuits and gravy, their pork sausage, out of the casing and crumbled up and cooked up like ground hamburger, works perfect.

Great selection of any meats. Bone Broth is incredible for Chemotherapy patients and I always swing by here to pickup Bone marrow. They also carry a variety of veggies to use in beef stocks as well.

Ever since coming to St. John's I wanted to shop ar Hallidays as I heard nothing but great reviews about it. They did not disappoint

Hubby bought 2 prime rib for our family bbq and it was the best I ever tasted…. Ty so much for making our dinner a delicious one. :)
