Page 2 of ArtsCalibre Academy's reply to the May 10, 2017 review of Marissa Schillemore:(Continued from Page 1)In your final phone call with me in mid-morning on that day, you demanded an immediate refund of the $150 deposit which you had paid to date. Acting as quickly as possible, I returned to my office during the lunch hour, accessed our accounting system to verify your deposit amount, then sent the refund to you via e-Transfer. This fast response was apparently not good enough for you, as you demonstrated by the posting of your review on Google. We are sorry that due to this unfortunate series of events, you will not be joining the dozens of caring and inspired families at our small but growing school. We wish you the very best of luck in the future.Sincerely,Charles ForgetFounding Director and TreasurerArtsCalibre Academy

My son started at ArtsCalibre 3 years ago and it has been nothing short of amazing. The staff truly cares about my sons future. They are kind, motivating, wonderful teachers who have given my son an incredible sense of self worth, encouraging him and all his ideas. My son went to public school as well and there is no comparison. The level of education and love they get at ArtsCalibre could never be duplicated at public school or any other private school I have looked into. I cannot say enough about ArtsCalibre. If you want your child to have a higher education surrounded by encouragement and love ArtsCalibre is the place.

I have 2 children attending ArtsCalibre Academy. My daughter has been attending for 2 years and my son for 1 year. There is no doubt I have made the right choice for my children. Their confidence and self-esteem has soared since attending this school. The creativity and engagement displayed in the delivery of the curriculum is exceptional. The staff are committed and enthusiastic. This dedication is displayed in all aspects of the school.

ArtsCalibre Academy is an amazing establishment. Kind, caring, progressive and supportive, this school offers a lot to students, parents and teachers. The directors are real people who genuinely care. They value each student. The school is welcoming and friendly. It's a fun, engaging environment that lets children explore who they are in a creative way.

Creative and Caring. ArtsCalibre has been an excellent school choice for our child. The teachers have been truly caring, kind and as creative as you would expect at an arts-based school. They always consider the children first and students are engaged in learning and I am always excited to see them pushing their boundaries. It is a small school with a warm community feeling. Lots of great extra-curricular activities. We have always been warmly welcomed and any questions or concerns we have had have been thoughtfully addressed.

I referred a former student and their family to this school based on the Arts Calibre philosophy outlined on their website. The student required significant support with regulation and the school very quickly gave up on the student, choosing to expel the student after 2 weeks via email. The school did not uphold the values and philosophy advertised, did not follow any process they outlined prior to registration and ultimately dismissed an already vulnerable student. It is important to mention that the student loved the school, felt connected to their teacher and was engaged in learning tasks at school. The school might have acknowledged the enormous success of the aforementioned events, had they read the students' Individual Education Plan or asked to meet with the family (the plan was available to them from registration, and was only read 2 days prior to expulsion). The administration at this school not only robbed this student of an experience they were loving, but also prevented them from having a strong start to middle school. They left a family scrambling to find a place for their child, and left the students' already fragile self-esteem in shambles. As a fellow educator, I am embarrassed for our profession that there are people who work in education who clearly don't get it. I would suggest that the administration at the school explore the work of Ross Green, Shelley Moore, Leyton Schnellert and Jody Carrington (and more!) and familiarize themselves with inclusive education which is widely accepted as best practice. After this incident occurred, I discovered that the school has a history of giving up on difficult" children. I will not be referring children to this school again."

I would give this school 0 stars if possible. They don't even deserve an A for effort. I completely understand why it's not a popular choice for a school. I thought there sure would have been a wait list for the school. Nope none. They acted as if spots went fast but after months of not getting back with a deposit and to fill out aoplications because of moving and being sick they still had lots of spots available. Anyways so when I first was searching for schools I came across arts Calibre, the idea of the school seemed amazing! I was impressed. Spoke with Sandra and Charles. They unfortunately left out a lot of financial information. I was told to put down a deposit of $300.00. then they changed it to $175.00. They took it in cash and said they would email me the reciept. I called and emailed them for weeks with no answer. I wanted to get my reciept and had numerous questions. It was until 15 days before the tuition was due that they emailed me. They emailed me with the wrong children's names and genders. They didn't know who my children were. They called my son a girl and had to email me to get correct names, ages and genders for both my kids. They didn't even know I had two kids at one point. It was so unprofessional and unorganized of them. I kindly gave them the right information then they hit me with $1700 extra in fees to be paid that week. I was told I would just need to pay September's tuition for my daughter $500.00 my son was covered by Subsidy now they wanted my son's full tuition as well. Subsidy stated I was covered for full coverage but they didn't understand. It was just ridiculous and then when Charles called me to confirm our enrollment I told him we have decided to go with another private school. I explained thoroughly how unimpressed I was with their school. I told him I expected my deposit in my account right away. He agreed it would be in my account within' 1 hour. 30 mins later he emails me to say he's out of the office and cannot refund at this time. I called the school and spoke with Sandra to inquire if Charles was in office and Sandra says no. He called you from.his private line. He is her husband and only a volunteer so he doesn't know. I got so frustrated at this point. Worst experience ever! We have up our spot at another school for this school. Right now it is so hard to get your child a spot in a catchment school. This is quite the situation to be left in. Thankfully we have found a spot where a student has just dropped out. If not, I have no idea how it would work out commuting a longer distance for two morning drops offs before work is not ideal. Best of luck! I'd stay clear of this school. The school is a great idea but they don't have their stuff together.
