Sam’s Moving Company is very professional. They reached out ahead of time to confirm the date and contacted me with an ETA prior to their arrival. Their help with moving between apartments really helped take some stress off my shoulders. The movers are really kind and always double checked with me on how I would like my things placed. The cost of their services is completely justified by their work. I very highly recommend their services!

In April, I called Sam's moving to book a couple of movers to help me pack a shipping container at the end of August. Flash-forward to six days before my move, and I'm notified that my booking has been cancelled because they received a bigger order. To their credit, they told me that they would come in the evening for the same day as my original booking (rather than early afternoon, as originally booked)... but only if I paid for an extra hour than was originally agreed upon.I understand that businesses have a bottom line to maintain, but I find it very unprofessional that this company tried to hustle me less than a week before my move. This is especially true given that I had booked with them months in advance. Very disappointed by this, and I opted to go elsewhere.

Sam’s Moving is THE BEST! They did an awesome job moving us from Ottawa to Montreal, even on short notice. Professional, reliable, punctual, FAST and strong guys! Excellent customer service as well. We have a lot of fragile antique furniture and everything was handled with great care. They went above and beyond and I can’t recommend them enough for all your moving needs! When contacting the company originally for my scheduled move, they were very responsive and professional. Sam reached out multiple times prior to the day to confirm the time and location, and I was very satisfied and looking forward to their help.When the day finally arrived, the movers arrived 1h45mins late, not the end of the world, but definitely delayed my moving plans.I was assured by Sam the owner that the movers would come A) prepared With shrink wrap and tarps and mats for large items and my floors B) and with straps and experience in lifting heavy awkward items up tight spaces; neither of which occurred C) also that my items would be packed with careThe 4 guys that came walked in and out of my house, on hardwood and carpet in dirty and wet snow covered shoes, so much so that I had to hire a carpet cleaning service for $400 for a full shampoo after the fact. Secondly, they did not have the correct equipment for moving heavy items in and out of the house. Lastly, they did not pack the truck with care - fragile items marked fragile were put at the bottom of piles of boxes, leading to some damage upon arrival. TV boxes were stored upside down and sideways, and although I’ll give them credit for really tetris’ing the truck, it was not done with care for my goods.The actual movers were kind people and they worked hard, no question on their work ethic and they were polite men - and the sub freezing conditions certainly didn’t make it easy to work. However I think it’s incumbent on the owner of the company to ensure his team has tarps and coverings for floors and carpets, and straps and other aids to make their job easier. That lack of white glove service led to me requiring the carpet cleaning service and the delay in arrival hurt my travel plans. 2/5 stars

I had booked another moving company for my load/unload but they didn’t show up. After an hour of searching the internet, I stumbled upon Sam’s moving. They were very quick to dispatch 2 movers to me within the hour to help me unload my truck up 3 flights of stairs to my new place. The 2 young gentlemen they sent were very efficient and got the truck unloaded in just over an hour. Highly recommend and they will be my first choice for movers when I move in the Ottawa region again.

MY HONEST REVIEWoverall I’m not happy I went over all of my inventory the first thing I mentioned during intake was that I had quite a bit a stuff in storage including the four major appliances the person then sent me a quote which I agreed on . On the day of the move they arrived a few mins late no problem . I believe that more hands are better then less hands since my storage room was upstairs I begin bringing things downstairs only to be told that I wouldn’t save money that way and I would only distract them which isn’t true but I let it be . A move that could have easily been done fast they took their time it would make sense for two movers to bring things from storage and two movers stay downstairs to load the truck but boop that all went up together the fourth guy was a lot older and did quite a bit of relaxing I ignored and kept going hoping for the best Although I told them about my appli at the end of the move they hit me with a hidden charge of 55$ per appliance as for my fridge they brought it only to the front door and said it couldn’t fit my little tiny sister and boyfriend ended up moving into the kitchen for experienced movers they should have tried harder . I’d also like to note that we made a second stop I brought everything downstairs with my sister and they were not light items it took us just twenty mins to do the job so I know they were taking their time to make sure they made enough money instead of just doing honest work and receiving a really great tip . They told me they did not charge me tax and that they were doing me a favour not charging two hours instead of one hour for travel time well that’s strange because they knew exactly where I was going. So let’s do the math 225x6=1350 and 55$x4 appliances is $220 totaling 1575 and they said I was not charged tax but refused to leave until they were paid 1751$ they were dishonest about the price and treated me less then because I was a woman they took their time and ripped me off very nice guys but they deceived me and that’s not cool save yourself some time and think twice Before booking with a company who lies takes advantage when they don’t think you know about moving and charges hidden fees when moving is already expensive . They told me that no movers in Ottawa move appliances because all homes come with appliances what the heck ????!!! Wanting cash to avoid taxes and still charging taxes and saying you didn’t ????? They will charge all kinds of hidden fees and that’s not what you want go with an Honest company who doesn’t take advantage of the situation

I am very happy to have had the service of Sam and his team. They we're quick to reply to my message and to book me in. I needed to move a very heavy treadmill to the basement, and Sam and his team we're extremely careful and knowledgeable in disassembling part of the treadmill and finding the best way to move it without any damage to our home. I definitely recommend Sam's Moving Company and will contract again when needed!

I hired Sam's moving for a move on Sunday. I had a lot of construction at my home and as a result the truck could not get in the driveway. I called the movers to let them know and they said it was not a problem. They showed up on time and moved all of my items into the truck within an hour. Sam even brought a 3rd mover to help. They were very helpful with placing my items into storage and always had a great work ethic while on the job. The guys were pleasant to be around, very polite and very professional. I would definaly recommend using these movers! Thanks again Sam for such a great experience!

They never showed up and didn't answer any calls on both phone numbers they provided. They called 1h30 and a half after my scheduled pick-up time to say they would be 3h late. My phone was on the entire time. Bunch of liars and a waste of time.
