Dr.Irving Fung MD

After reading some of these reviews I felt I had to weigh-in. A few years ago after complaining of ears being plugged my family doctor told me to get my hearing tested. HearingLife is close to me so I made an appointment there. After the hearing test, which showed some loss in one ear Dr. Fung made a joke, which was harmless enough, about my age, but might be a bit insulting to some people. Then he said he needed to clear some wax out of my ears to see my ear drum and proceeded to dig around with a seemingly sharp instrument. It scratched the inside of my ear and caused bleeding and was quite painful afterwards. I won't be going back to HearingLife or to that Dr. Fung (be aware...there are two)

Dr. Fung and the team at HearingLife Hearing Centre are phenomenal. They've gone above and beyond to implement appropriate procedures in regard to COVID-19. Upon my arrival I waited outside the door at my designated appointment time as instructed and was greeted in a friendly manner by the reception staff, including door service! After being guided to an extraordinarily clean, open, independent seating area, then answering a few simple standard questions and waiting a couple short minutes, the doctor came to greet me in full PPE.Dr. Fung is extremely professional, knowledgeable and has a fabulous personality. I've never in my life thought an endoscopy would be so simple and fast, and having the process explained step by step was encouraging and definitely made the procedure significantly easier.Polite, thorough and accurate, Dr. Fung seemed to understand my various symptoms as we went through them one by one. It was apparent that Dr. Fung knew almost immediately that they weren't all connected, and asked several follow up questions before making the full assessment. I was then assigned some home remedies as well as prescribed medication and was asked to make a follow up appointment. I have confidence in the diagnoses and I feel hopeful in seeing good results.Dr. Fung walked me to the reception to inform the staff of my follow up and the staff seemed happy to find an appointment at a time and date best for me. The staff walked me to the door and were polite upon my exit.Amazing service!My recommendations:Double check the location before arrival as Dr. Fung's name does not appear on the bigger signage.If you do not have a vehicle, be prepared to wait outside if you arrive early, as the doors are kept locked until appointment time.If you have issues travelling and need a prescription filled, take advantage of the pharmacy located in the same plaza which also has helpful, kind staff.I encourage other patients to bring a bit of humour to the chair to make the visit more palatable"!"

Very unproffesional, I am 21 and am hard of hearing since my left ear is completely deaf, until I've went in for a hearing test in summer of 2021 and they tried a test where they put their equipment behind left ear and I was able to hear for the first time! They reccommended me to see an ENT to see what's going on with my ear. I've waited months for this appointment, it got cancelled without letting us know. For me it was understandable that it had to be cancelled bc of the condition of the road with heavy snow, but I had to drive to their office since they did not let know! I was rescheduled the next day, and all I was told by Dr. fung that IT'S POINTLESS to do the testings now since I've been deaf for 21 years. My visit with him was a TOTAL JOKE complete waste of time!

Great difficulty in contacting the office to try and set up an appointment. I was on a two month waiting list to even get an appointment. I found a different ENT elsewhere since the referal to appointment timeframe was about 12 months. I had the common courtesy to call and cancel the appointment, but again the staff didn't respond to voicemails I left and I had to persistently call across multiple days just to cancel. Good grief, what a waste of everyone's time.

Not very professional in my opinion. He's very short with his words and it felt as if I needed to pry the information out of him for a diagnosis. Receptionist said they would book me a CT scan at the hospital and then call me with the date and time - I never got a call and missed" my appointment."

Dr Fung didn't explain anything to me. No matter how many questions I asked he just stared down at his paper. I found him very rude. I saw him multiple times for an inner ear infection. He sent me for testing at the hospital and they were hesitant to perform the test he ordered because i had a hole in my ear and they would have to shoot water through it. They went ahead because of his orders. I suffered for 8 months after this in immense pain. I saw Dr fung multiple times after and he removed stuff from my ear in very painful ways the most pain I've ever felt not once did he admit he made my ear worse sending me for that testing. He kept saying it was allergies. I switched specialists my new specialist knew right away the cause of my horrible infection I had had a minor infection that could be treated with antibiotics but then after (the water testing dr fung ordered when i had a perforated ear drum. ..) it got way worse he gave me the proper antibiotics and treatment he was very gentle when removing stuff from my ear it didn't feel like anything when he did it and when doctor fung did it I was screaming in pain and bleeding.... within a month my 8 month infection was gone after proper care and instructions. DO NOT go here he will just make you worse and not listen to you or answer your questions and hurt you..

If you have ear infections don't waste your time going to him. He didn't even bother doing a swab to see what kind of infection i had. later my new family doctor gave me a different referral. he told me: dr Fung works for the company that makes hearing devices, that's his specialty. Other than that he is useless.

I founf Dr Fung very helpful. He examined me and refered me for U/S at hospital and after results referred me to surgeon. Was patient and answers all my questions. Yes he did book hearing test but was appropriate for the problem.

Dr.Fung removed polyps from my nose two weeks ago, which bothered me a lot, affected my breathing and sleeping. The procedure was carried out painlessly and professionally. I had no postoperative bleeding and pain to complain about and I am grateful that an experienced doctor freed me from the disturbing polyps. I have been Dr. Fung's patient for five years and have always been treated politely and correctly by him.August Spangenberg
