Wentworth Stairs
Approx 40 flights of stairs with a road crossing/break near the half way point. The steps are narrow. You can easily hold both hand rail.. with platforms every few flights which help with passing other users. The steps themselves are short steps on the lower section while the upper section increases their height.Pick taken at the street crossing.Great view from the top!!

Great experience and one of the best free workouts. Make sure you are hydrated before taking the stairs. If you start from the bottom and go up, you will be awarded beautiful views of Hamilton when you get to the top

We enjoy going up and down the stairs as an exercise and also to access the shops on Concession St. We always seem to meet nice people on the stairs and the views from the top are the best in Hamilton. The stairs are very well lit at night.

Using the stairs as a part of my exercise routine was one of the best things I could have done personally. As a beginner I started from the top to the bottom and back to the top again in 20 minutes or less. And that was even taking idle breaks (several) and I DON’T RUN! EVER…Avid “stair goers”, and pretty well everyone I greeted along the way were pleasant and kind. Some days I am even there before 7am and quite frankly that’s really early for me and still I am compelled to smile and wave or nod at every single person I meet on the Wentworth Stairs. This exercise routine has not only moved my physical health in the right direction, but it has restored my faith in Hamiltonians of all walks of life!

Wentworth Stairs
Great exercise and convenient way to travel up or down the escarpment. Doesn't have the double staircase or bike track to push your bike up like Kenilworth stairs, but these are of course older, but super sturdy no complaints! And from what I've seen in the winter they're always clear and not slippery, which is a good thing... I'm not sure if they clean them or the snow just falls through them but it works!

Great place for exercise, and surprisingly convent as a genuine route just to get from Point A to Point B. I work on concession and live along the king bus route, so when the weather's nice I can cut about 15 minutes off my commute by just walking down the stairs and catching the bus downtown, while enjoying the nice views along the way! Enjoyable spot to exercise and relax at the same time. My go to place for when I need a quiet walk. Needs more lighting for evening hours along the brow path stairs are well lit.

First time doing any of the stairs and this set was fantastic with a beautiful view of the city. The stairs are narrow and steep but they have little platform stops along the way. There is the option to stop midway (Sherman Cut) or to continue on the way to the bottom. The steps at the bottom are further apart so provide a unique workout. Push yourself and go to the bottom and back. You've got this!498 steps from top of Mountain Park Ave to bottom at Wentworth St. Just under a km of stairs. Parking is located at the top of Mountain Park with a nice view of the city, a good place to stretch/jog before tackling the stairs. The people were inspiring and encouraging along my trek back up. So thanks to all of them. ♡Added some extra photos of one section of the stairs that can set off some anxiety for those who do not like heights. . .there is one set of stairs along the wall of the Sherman Cut on the top half that can trigger anxiety/panic/fear. Just keep your head up and you can get through it.

This is where it all starts or end. Depending if you want to do the stairs once or twice! Nice rest area and breathe in the good air that the trees gives you!
