This place with modern decor serves Shanghainese food. The chipped dishes we got for the table setting did not make a good first impression but luckily the food was good. My favourite was the hot and sour soup which was really both spicy hot and sour. The XLB was good, relatively thin skinned and juicy. The beef wrap was good as well, just enough hoisin sauce to carry the flavours. Not the best Shanghaimodern food that I have had, but not bad either.

We came here during lunch and the menu for the small dishes are quite impressive. There are many good Shanghai restaurants and this one will be on my return list.As soon as we step in the restaurant, the renovation hinted high prices. Crystal like chandeliers, large round tables with sparkling glitters, modern decor and arts make this very trendy. We ordered the usual soup buns, tan tan noodles, chives pancakes. They are hot and fresh when served. The service level is usual Chinese operated, and it is reasonable and attentive when you need them. Our bill for lunch for 3 came less than what we thought. We will come by again.

There are certain dishes that are great and certain dishes that are not. After learning this we order pretty much the same thing there every time we go there and not get disappointed (steamed dumplings, saute shrimp, pan fried buns, and pork fermented veggie rice in stone pot).A few visits with friends , when they order the main dishes, it kinda disappoints. As much as I want to try one of those pictured main dishes I refrain because they are usually too salty and over priced. Stick to the small stuff and you won't be disappointed.

Upon entering the restaurant, there was a nice waiting area with plenty of seating (enough to fit at least 15 people.) Ambiance was nice.Service was spotty, some of the waiters/waitresses were helpful and great while others appeared to have a language barrier (either they only understood Mandarin? or were just ignoring us.)The beef pancake rolls were good, albeit the sauce a bit watery. The soymilk soup was a bit lacking in flavour. Xiaolongbao were average. The goose foie gras had a bit too much sauce which overpowered the other flavours. The spicy wontons were decent (but they came out very late, almost half an hour after our other dishes were out and only after asking about it.)One note that seemed unprofessional was that in their open kitchen area (where you can watch them prepare the food), one of the chefs was constantly popping food in their mouth. Whenever they were noticed they were caught and someone was watching, they would try to hide it by turning around but would start popping food again soon when they thought no one was watching. If they made it obvious that they were taste testing, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad. But each time they noticed someone watching them they would look ashamed, like they were doing something wrong, yet they continued to do it knowing they were doing something they shouln't have been.

I really like the pork soup dumplings here. The restaurant's COVID-19 protective measures are acceptable. I found the tables to be a bit nasty when I came to eat. Food is good though, could fix the door for the mens washroom so it's possible to lock it (?). Menus were online, probably so they don't have to sanitize menus after people check them, although their guest wifi password is not available unless you ask, so it's a bit harder to access the menu if you didn't bring your phone or don't have data.

The food was good. XLB was very juicy with nice flavors. Hot and Sour soup decent with lots of ingredients, drunken chicken very tender, Jinjiang shredded meat with crepe had good flavors. The only thing I wouldn't reorder is the Jinsha tofu pot, which wasn't bad either, but just not for me.The food definitely deserves a 4. But worse than average service so a 2.5 for service.

Food was great, I especially like the pan fried buns, the skin is not too thick and the filling is very juicy. The bottom is fried to perfection, very crispy. I think the low score was mainly due to the service, it's slow but understandable to me as I can see all the dishes were freshly made and served right after.

3.4 but would have been more like a 3.9/4.0. It was awkward communications throughout the night. It didn't help that the staff only speaks mandarin and our group could only speak Cantonese or English. I may not be describing this right but it was just a weird feeling.Anyway, the food and atmosphere was pretty good all and all. Pricing $$$.We will try dinner again one day and hopefully the communications will be better.

Good food and price not bad! Service was okay for a Chinese place! The xlb and pan fried buns is a must have but also the drunk chicken appie! Loved it! Didn't have any of the dirt fry stuff but still definitely try next time!
