We brought a genie material lift in for repair. They explained that there was a $350 charge to provide a quote for the repair. After doing a visual only assessment of the machine they called and said it would be over $2000 to repair the machine and this was only a budget. They did not provide a firm quote as agreed to when we paid the $350 for the assessment. You can buy a brand new one online for $3000 so we did not proceed with the work. Also, when we picked up the machine the cable was gone. Not sure why they removed the cable and did not return it. Here’s the heart of my complaint. Surely for $350 they could actually open up the machine and give a firm price for the service. Secondly, if the machine was that badly damaged (repair cost was 66% of new), surely that was pretty obviously and you could curtail the full assessment and give the customer a heads up - “this unit isn’t worth repairing” and here’s your $350 (or some portion of it back).
