First time there, a beautiful boardwalk way over the water, the tide was out when I was there, the view was breath taking, got to see little crabs scurrying around on the sand and a few other sea creatures. I had never seen black sand before ,there was an area of the beach with ebony black sand, worth the trip just to see the black sand. The walkway is a beautiful place to go for a stroll, had to ask someone where the bathroom was, they were so friendly and helpful. This is a lovely park and a real sense of community I will definitely be visiting again.

Nice beach with camping ground. Shellfish harvesting is prohibited. It is an animal-friendly place, and camping grounds require reservations and electricity and water are available. I was lucky enough to meet a starfish.

People have fires on the beach and leave their glass. Tons of shards of glass. Small beach. The black sand on the other side is slag which is a metal and they can imbed themselves in your skin as awful slivers. Id give it a 2.5 its just the locals who fix it up- myself incised. People keep dumping garbage trinkets into the water too claiming to be pirates leaving treasure for children. The town has had plenty of hot debates on the subject of littering vs harmless fun.

Fairly new to the island so it was our first visit. A beautiful boardwalk and waterfront. Enjoyed photographing the water birds and scenery.
